Today is one of my favorite days of the year. My Daughter and I go Christmas shopping for my wife then we find a BBQ joint and have a couple of beers together.

If you are down by LaPlata Johnny Boys is a decent BBQ shop. They have been there forever.

OK......This made me shiver a little! This is the first time I've been here since Thanksgiving and you just posted wandering about us!

She had a successful surgery, got everything, but had a really tough time in the recovery room....just couldn't get her to come out of it. Surgery was 4 1/2 hours and was in recovery for almost three hours. Her Docs said they had a problem with the very fibrous tissue just underneath the skin, and that's why it took so long.
It's been 8 days now and she is doing well, still lots of pain, but she's pretty tough. The emotional trauma is as hard to deal with as the physical trauma. But that is just what comes with cancer and a double mastectomy. Going from being "fine" one day to being told you have cancer the next is devastating. She will be having reconstruction surgery, so I think that will help with the emotional part and we're so thankful they caught it in time. She's already talking of wanting to work with women that are facing going through this that might be alone without any help.
We are planning on having a wonderful Christmas, just the two of us. OK....just as I typed that, my little Doxie jumped up in my lap....so I'll change that to just the three of us!
We are so thankful for everything we have. Our family, our friends and now our health. Going through things like this make you appreciate and cherish everyday.
We're both on a few different forums, mostly Porsche related, that we've shared this part of our lives with. It is really special when friends, most we've never met personally, genuinely care what happens to us.
You folks are definitely are our special friends!
    Thank you everyone!

Rob, glad to hear the news...I can't imagine having to make the decisions the two of you had to make. She has a long road ahead for healing and my prayers will continue to go out to both you and Joanne. God Bless you both. If you need anything, just let us all here know and we will help anyway we can. Take care and if you aren't on the TW forum before the Holidays, From my family to yours Have a Very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!!!! Ken

    Rob,

I am so glad to hear that your wife is recovering well - and you HAVE been in our thoughts and prayers.

My mom is going through hormone therapy for breast cancer now - she will have a mastectomy in February but the should ensure a complete recovery. Luckily for her it was found fairly early, too, but at her age the cancer is very slow moving.

Keep us up to date when you have time to stop in!!

    Mark

    Rob:
What a positive update. Sounds like your wife really went after the cancer with everything she has mentally. It is a tough battle that really requires a positive attitude to come out on top. I will continue to keep your family in my prayers at church.

    Jim:
Personally I am not a fan of Visio TV's mainly due to the quality of the componet parts used by Visio. I am looking to buy a computer and I am betting the after Christmas sales will help me save a few hundred.

I put the shingles on the trash bin container earlier today. Next up are the walls.

This is not the first I've thought about you and your wife. Didn't want to intrude, but after not hearing an update, wanted to check.

Continued prayers for your wife's complete recovery. Very happy to hear they got it all.

    Thank you everyone so much!
I will try my best to be here a little more often. JoAnne is off work for at least 5 weeks and I'm her "caregiver" so we're just taking it easy and getting better each day.
Please know that your prayers WORKED! We truly believe in the power of prayer and positive thoughts and a positive attitude means everything in beating cancer.
Our best to all of you....

Can't walk Zoie until Wed, so I have a rambunctious pup to entertain and try to keep calm... this should be fun.
