    Yep, that's right.
It's about how the shocks and springs are matched.
And then factor in the weight being handled.

    .
OP, is it possible what you are experiencing is the difference between the crappy old shocks and the new 5100's?

    .
Because that's what i have now, 5100's set at 1.75 with trd sport springs, yeah, it's stiffer, but my old shocks really sucked balls, too soft, too much roll.

    Not necessarily.
If you put 886's (660#) on your rig without the proper weight above them, it may ride like a buckboard.

The 885's and Eibach's are close in rate and would probably give a similar ride with the correct shock/strut.
I believe that 885 is longer than Eibach so you would get more lift from 885.
OZ reported 2-1/2" and the Eibach is listed at 1.6"

so Eibach is my best bet?? .....2.5" w/ 885 would be too much

Only you can decide how much lift you want.
885 should put you at approx 22-1/2" from axle centerline to top of wheel well.

What dimension do you want here ?

well i think my truck as is right now ( 5100 @ 1.75) is perfect....so with 5100 @ 0 and eibach it should be 1.6"? which is close enough

Now with eibach I will need .25" spacer for the drivers side correct?

I would still physically measure axle center to wheel well to be sure. There are too many variables.
If it is sitting at 21-1/2" to 21-3/4" then the Eibach + Billie (@ 0.0) should do it.
Just "eyeballing" your picture, it looks like more than that.

    You have the data.
You have identical suspension each side right now, correct ?
Fill up your tank and measure it on each side. If your tires are aired up the same just measure off of a level slab this time.
If you have lean you need a "lean spacer".

I've seen that reported for 1st gen but for 2nd gen I've seen reports of no apparent side specific springs or seat locations. Not hard to find a report of a stocker sporting the lean.

Here's one where a lean spacer had to be used to fix lean with stock coils on a Billie:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/170330-taco-lean.html

My TSB rear springs however, are side specific. Whether it's for lean compensation or not, I don't know.

I'll throw this out there but if you didn't like the ride with stock coils and 5100's at 1.75, you might not like Eibachs. They do ride much better than stock but they are noticably stiffer (and the spring rates show why). The 5100's do a great job dampening the stiffer coils but, at the end of the day, it's still a much stiffer coil which you very clearly stated you do not want.

If I were looking for a smoother, softer ride and a lift, I'd consider the 884 coils. With your double cab you should still be pretty close to 2" of lift and they have a softer spring rate than the Eibachs. OME 884s and 885s have the same spring rate (588 #/in) but the 884's are shorter so they don't give you as much lift.

I agree, the ride from the Eibachs is much better than stock, but they are noticably stiffer in my opinion. I came from SR5 coils though. Eibachs and 5100's are a great combo, they hold the road very well, don't dive under hard braking, damn near eliminate body roll in corners but driving down a rough city street you'll know you have a stiffer coil under you. If someone simply said they want a better ride, I'd suggest them in a heartbeat but if someone says they want a softer ride and was already complaining about stock coils only preloaded to 1.75, I'd question whether or not Eibachs was the right choice and push them toward the 884s. Just my $0.02.

OP I was in the same situation you were in. I wanted the lift, set the 5100's to 2.5 on the stock sport springs and my truck bucked like a bronco. I ended up getting a set of 885x OME, 5100's down to 0 and she rides like a dream with the same amount of lift.
