    ME TOO!!!

Just got done doing it 5 mins ago. While I was buying the clamps at Wal~Mart I was thinking how ironic it would be if my gate was stolen while I was buying the clamps. Luckily it was still there when I was done shopping, and now it should be there for a long time to come. I may put a little JB Weld on the clamp for added security becaus I can see no reason why I will ever take the gate off personally.

Side note, I picked up a set of Hella 500FF's while I was at Wal~Mart too. Can't wait to get those bad boys installed.

If you truck is ever hit, and the body shop needs to remove the tailgate, JB Weld will make it more difficult. With the keyed clamp, it should be fine. Like I said earlier, I have never had one stolen. :)

My brother in law went deep into the desert on the Nevada side and made his way to the Grand Canyon a couple of years ago. At one point he got so stuck that he had to wedge his tailgate under one of his rear tires to get it our of a hole... JB weld on his tailgate would have screwed him... Never think you will ever remove your tailgate.

I just used the same tailgate clamps to secure it on and I don't know how the hell you removed the key. The ones I got, the keys don't seem to want to come off. I tugged and twisted, eventually the key broke off and I cut my hand. Either way its on there, I just need pliers to remove it now.

What keeps someone with a screwdriver or another key from taking the clamp off?

Purchased the "E-Z clamps" from Wally World last night and installed them in about a minute. One less thing that I have to worry about.

If they have the right tools, nothing will stop anyone from takeing anything. Its a deterant. Theives are parannoid, and dont want to take much time in takeing something (for the most part). If they encounter something that they havent planned for, they most often, abort the theft attempt and go aftter someone elses rig. Its basically, "an ounce of prevention", and some peice of mind. And, like I said, I have never had a tailgate stolen.

Thanks for the up date Chris, it slows them down & it's something they didn't think they would encounter. I understand, i just needed a clarification. I'm a new 1st time Tacoma owner & with the 09's having the camera it makes replacing the tailgate even more expensive to replace.
