nice looking i like the fact that it would actually follow the lines of the fender instead of needing silicon to fill the gap. air flow australia huh i wonder why they have there snorkel body cut so short in comparison to the safari?

the intake iirc is up closer towards the headlight there must enter the fender/ wheel well and travel hidden to the intake hole instead of it being routed along the outside of the fender.

either way looks cool. did you ever get your snorkel on anthony?

dam son you better get something on there you had water over the hood it's def reaching the level it could suck stuff straight in!

i'm happy with my safari brother i have crossed water with it a few times now the one time it was def up to the top of the wheel well.

lol the gay part was it just felt so wrong i was worried even though i had the snorkel and the diff breather on.

this past week i used liquid electrical tape and basically coated every single plug i could find in the engine bay and sealed every light and harness i have.

i have to figure out something with the fuse box i think black silicon.

what else could i use that is not permanant to further seal plugs and such?

Curious if anyone is running the Snorkle and Supercharger together. Curious if anyone see's any issues specific to that combination.

I am also tempted to seal up my CAI and run the snorkel into my AFE Pro dry S CAI, anyone done anything like that?

same thing happened to me when we installed my snorkel. we ended up disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for a minute or so light went out and everything is kosher.

not sure if you tried this but, it worked for me hopefully it will work for you as well. i had started my truck with the sensor unplugged from the air box so i think that may have been the trigger for it.

Have a peek at Toyota part number 17730-31030 which is standard on gasoline engined Prado's and apparently now is standard on the FJ Cruisers and acts like a foreign material trap for the intake. Would certainly help with allot of the issues people here are mentioning about dust and bugs but maybe not so much when it comes to tree frogs. It's certainly not an "end-all, be-all" solution but if it comes in at about a hundred bucks and extends your air filter life as well as keeps fuel economy robbing material off of the air filters face it should pay for itself within a reasonable amount of time.

Notice the rubber bulb on the lower right of the main body, that is the manual purge that you simply squeeze to release dust and other foreign material. For the folks that have made their intakes from the fender to the airbox out of mandrel bent tube they could probably easily fit this into the center section and attach the bends to each side.

A quick write up on how it works.

TRDparts4u site listing for it, your parts reseller may offer better pricing.

Hopefully someone may find it useful and it helps them.

I dont have a snorkel on my s/c tacoma, but should soon. I dont see any benefit with running your snorkel through your CAI. All a CAI is for is to run outside air (cold air) instead of engine bay air. Which the new taco's do pretty good at that stock. Once you put a snorkel up top, I feel a CAI would then be pointless, just because your snorkel has now become a CAI and its not like running it thought the little box will make it colder.

I dont see a problem with it, just dont see how the CAI box will be beneficial. I guess the filter might allow more air flow? Maybe?

I'm running an SC with a snorkel, you won't get enough air to allow sufficient boost for the SC, I had to remove the CAI cover on mine

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
depending on the model of the CAI, it should remove the ribbing of the stock intake tube and also remove the boxed portion of the intake right before the TB.

Which would essentially provide a slight increase in air flow? Do you think it would provide a noticable difference, except a slight increase on a dyno?

My main reason for asking about running the snorkel down into the CAI is two fold. 1. is the benefit of having the snorkle pull air from up high with less chance of pulling water 2. is to have the filter from the CAI still in there to screen out any dust or debris that makes it down into the box. Essentially the snorkel is just the piping and the filter is still in the normal spot. I currently have the AFE CAI.

Menametony, were you throwing any codes while running your snorkel, how do you know you couldn't pull enough air?

I definatlely need to find a solution as I am building my expo rig. Having the intake in the stock is just not a good option for me since I will have to do several water crossings.
