I bought my Tacoma 3 months ago, and I got it used, and they are a pain to get used, people really hold onto them, which isn't a bad thing, and I now understand why. Anyway, how many of you bought new and how many searched for a used one?

If you bought used did you get almost exactly what you wanted? I originally wanted a DC Sport Long Bed 4x4 but I bought a DC Off Road Short Bed 4x4 and am very happy I got the OR, I am also glad I got the short bed, even though I had second thoughts as I was signing the paperwork.

Anyway, just wondering how many of you forked over the money for a new one, which I wanted to do, but my wife would not allow me spend that much money.

I got mine used :). I was looking for a long bed but found my DC TRD 6spd man. short bed with topper and loved it. I haven't been limited with the short bed yet. There is no way I could have afforded to go new.

I am the kind of person who prefers to spend the extra money and get a new vehicle. In many ways, I see purchasing a used vehicle as purchasing someone else's problems which in general is rare but I just don't want to take any chances....

I bought my 2010 used a month ago and I have no complaints whatsover. I mean the thing already had a 6" lift, tires, and some other things done to it. Made my plans easier...

I searched for almost 8 months for a used one that was exactly what I wanted. The ones I found were so ridiculously priced(2-3k less than new) I didn't even consider them. I ended up buying new.

I searched for 6 months and my spending limit was $16k, from my wife, and I found my
2006 DC Off Road 4x4 for $16,450 and bought it, extremely happy, just stuck with that stupid blower motor squeak. I would have never been able to buy new, but my used one was and still is super clean and drives tight. :)

Driving from MD to TX in it right now, Tacoma World is small on my phone...

The 05s with close to 100k miles on it I found were still going for right around 20k.

You would save 15k if you bought 2005 with more than 60k miles on it. Still a good purchase, but the savings from purchasing a slightly used Tacoma is very minimal.

I really wanted to order one, never done that before. But I just couldn't spend the money. One day. In the end a Tacoma is a Tacoma and they are all pretty cool. Getting mine used left me money to do some mods right away, saving for tires and a bumper now.

I bought my 2009 new. Took a little while for the dealer to find the exact truck I wanted. The used ones were going for pretty much around here and I couldn't find one I really liked and wasn't going to settle.

I set out to get a truck like 3 months ago, I was dead set on getting an X-Runner, my friends talked me out of it though(THANK GAWD!!, no offense to any x-rrunners). Kept searching for a few weeks for a TRD Sport, didnt care if it was pre-run or 4x4, just wanted that sexy hood scoop. Finally found one, 07 pre-runner off road with less than 30k miles for 16k. That deal went bad though and Im glad it did because now I got an 05 TRD Sport 4x4 6spd with 36k miles for 20k. EXACTLY what I wanted at that moment. Now I wish I would have gotten an OR though.

I searched for about 8 months and really liked the trucks but didnt want to spend the kind of money they go for new or used lol until i found mine, the dealership messed up on the add the placed and still honored the the price i got my 05 spd way blue dc trd offroad with 58k for $13999. I would have liked a 4x4 but alot more expensive and I couldnt seem to find a used in my area at all your right people do hold on to them and i know why now its a great truck its runs perfect and its tight. I would definilty like to buy a new one in the future with everything im looking for but for now this will hold me over lol.
