    I think you could possibly do it for less.

    Junk yards FTW.

    This is true, he already has a 2WD, and chances of him needing 4WD on the way to work are pretty slim. So I'm going to say you could do it in increments, and completely assemble everything when you have the main components mounted. It is very feasible.

    true if you can find one. mine should be right close to 1500 to convert . im starting after the 1st of the year

    i would say the biggest part would be the trans to drive shaft that i would believe would take up most of the time install wise. back on the junk yard part . if you get the stuff from there you run the risk of gettin something that could be broke or what not. the trans and xfer case im getting ready to get will go to a trans shop for a complete inspection and rebuild

    Very true. Rebuild kits are not expensive, so really you will only be into a few hundred more for the inspection, then rebuild if necessary.

    I will be excited to see how it turns out for both of you, I would love to offer assistance as well :D

    Haven't seen one yet. But to be honest, it is almost better to buy a 2WD and convert it, you save about 8 G's. (give or take)

    dunno. i think it would be cheaper to buy the 4x4 and not convert. why ???
    1 reasearching the parts you need
    2 hunting down said parts
    3 any work that needs to be done if parts are hosed
    4 install
    5 making sure everything works and is synced up

    then trying to find folks that will help.
