A general question for you out there in tacoma world. I have an older friend that has an '05 Tundra and bought some projection headlights that he thought were for it. They actually are for an '05-'08 Tacoma. My question is, will they fit my 2009 Tacoma? Thanks for your input! I told him I thought they would fit but I would ask the pros on here!:oldglory:

Please do not put HID's in them unless they are HID projectors.

There are HID projectors and then there are just projectors. The projector has to be defined as HID specific to run an HID.

EDIT: The only way to get this in a Tacoma (that I know of) is to retrofit it. Any other type of light is not an HID projector.

Can you simply install hid bulbs in place of the oem filliment type bulbs? Don't you need a balast?

you can run hids in any projector. however the problem lies with the plastics used over time they may suffer some form of damage from the hotter set-up.

although almost every oem halogen projector can readily accept hids these egay lights eh. he may be ok or they might melt lol its a coin toss.

i'm sure that there are others running one of the three generations of the projector headlights with hids in them. maybe try searching i'm sure it will bring up a bunch of threads.

    back on topic.

as stated by brock these lights are not going to be an improvement over the stock headlights.

as a matter of fact they will most likely be considerably worse. every cut off i have seen from these type of lights is absolutely hideous lol the cut off will resemble a u and thats pretty much the extent of your beam.

OP, put up a picture of the lights so we can see what we are dealing with here. If they are a retro then they are perfect, but if they are eBay light then they are great to sit up on the mantle of the fire place

Thanks for all the replys. I'm not sure what type they are and I'm sure he doesn't either. I asked him if they were HID's and I got the "deer in the headlights look" with an eventual nod of agreement...so I'm sure he doesn't know! I surely don't want to worsen my headlight situation and I don't know where they came from...egay or otherwise so that compounds the unknown. I will look further into this and see exactly what he has and go from there. Thanks again fellow Tacomians!
