She is beautiful, and I don't doubt if you put her outside now she MAY perish. But if she was raised outside as a pup, she would be fine.

Also pretty sure no AKC, UKC, or any other breed, don't exist in the wild.

uh no dude lol this dog is unbelievable her hair would be matted and she would have the mange in a week not to mention she would absolutely never be able find food.

me and the wife joke about it all the time that if she whee in the wild she would get by on the kindness of other animals and probably live on flowers meaning she would eat them for food lol

My super vicious :sarcasm: 75lb hunting game Pitbull that was bred to live outside is curled up under 3 blankets snoring next to me. I doubt he would live very well on his own I the wilderness haha

No, no, no. I was only saying she would be VERY able to survive living out doors, being feed and and taken care of. Not being tossed out in the middle of nowhere. VERY FEW could/Would survive that. BTW, my wife had a cocker when we first met, (31 yrs ago). I know they are high maintenance.

wtf did you get a dog for if you're not going to train it and leave it outside all alone?
... you should probably just start beating it too ...

but if you insist on having him outside than build him actual shelter that is insulated not one of those shitty dog igloos...

Elevate it a few inches off the ground and fill with carpet. Make sure it has a covered door that he can push open when needed.

I agree totally, however, dogs (not sure about cats, never owned one, can't say) are WAY smarter/more intelligent than people give them credit for.

I didn't read all the responses but we always had dogs that spent the day outside and came in when we got home from work or I got home from school. We built a smaller dog house that she could go in, make a 180 around a divider and then lay in the second compartment. That area had plexiglass so she could see out and be out of the wind/snow. You don't want the house to be any bigger than they can heat with their own body heat. If the house is too big, it doesn't do them any good. We used to fill the house with fluffed hay also and the bottom, walls and roof was plywood/blue board (rigid insulation)/plywood and then shingles on the roof. If you want to get really fancy, put an incadescent bulb in the roof of the house for heat if it does get really cold where you live (get one of those caged ones so he can't accidentally break it).

Dogs are dogs. They can stay outside. I have 5 beagles. The best thing would probly be to get another one. They can keep each other warm. People to often treat animals as if they are people. I love my dogs just as much as one possibly could, but they stay outside year round. All mine
are from shelters or my wife and I have found them and taken them in.

Here are a few of mine

i dont know how wood chips do on keeping warm, hay or straw is better, a thick bed of it, it will compress down a little. and some kind of cover or flap over the door, he should be ok.

    Amen...
I'm glad someone said it. They're dogs, just because they're not inside, 100% of the time does not mean they're neglected. As long as you give them a space to get out of the weather and a place to warm up, they're perfectly happy outside (obviously some breeds this is not the case and you should get a dog that's at least somewhat appropriate for the climate you live in).
The comment relating keeping a dog outside to beating it was just uncalled for, rude and incredibly ignorant. A beagle is a hunting dog, they spend a lot of time outside.

straw bales are usually lighter, you dont have to get the big ones. but shake out the flakes press it down and repeat, thats what mattresses used to be stuft with back in the day.
