I have a question about this. . . I'm thinking about putting 1.25in. spacers on my truck and do you guys think the truck would have to be re-aligned afterwords? If everything is tightened to spec will it effect the alignment on the truck? I'm spending this week to paint my wheels black then next week I'm getting the Goodyear Authority's from WalMart. Thinking about putting the wheel spacers in, it'll give me more room and I like the looks of tires that come out from under the flares.

Should not appreciably change the alignment - toe, caster, camber.

... since the stance of the truck is now wider, wouldn't the camber change slightly? The tire contact point is now further outboard from the center of the truck but I'm not sure if that matters.

When I added my smaller spacers, new tires, new bumper and UCA's I got a custom alignment so I never gave it much thought if I only added spacers.

ive had spacers on my truck since 30k miles. im now at 119k. i had a left front wheel bearing failure at 85k. keep in mind that my yota has seen every trail, mud hole, and backroad within 45 min of my house. and has seen a little airtime as well. its hard to expect bearings to hold up to that much abuse. spacers or not. thats why i drive a yota

nah. You could stick a 5 foot wheel spacer in without changing camber. Of course, that would be undesirable for other reasons. ;-)

I have a 2006 tacoma 4x4 and I'm trying to put on a set of Pro Comp 52 Rock Crawler Series steel wheels.

I'm trying to figure out if I'll need wheel spacers in order to clear the front calipers with these wheels or not. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Secondly, If the backspacing is less on these then stock (5.5 stock to 4.5 in.) does that mean they will stick out further passed the fender or will they be further in towards the engine by and inch? I'm having trouble wrapping my head around this.

Also, I'm wondering if wheel spacers are needed, does anyone have a recommendation for a specific brand or should I just look for a set that are hub centric and billit aluminum? Thanks for the feedback. :D

Not too the same extent. Yes a 3 inch wider tire pushes the outside edge out 1.5 inches, but it also pushes the inside edge INWARD 1.5 inches (centerline unchanged), a 1.5 inch spacer pushes both the outside and inside edges of the tire out 1.5 inches (centerline moved 1.5 inches outward). With a 3 inch wider tire yes forces are increased due to the obviously higher weight of a larger object, but the forces are still centered on the original centerline. With a 1.5 inch spacer, the centerline is moved outward, multiplying the force applied to the hub.

EDIT: Should have read BJ's post first.
