Question for other college students

I checked my grades online since now everything has been posted, and this was my first semester of college, completed

I saw my cumulative GPA and I was wondering what would be a good value for that? I feel as if I did well. I made only A's and B's this semester.

 

I'm trying to maintain a 3.6 to get into pharmacy school but I think a 3.4 or 3.5 is good.

 

Depends on your major. I'm in engineering and a 3.0 is great. Most have between a 2.0 and 2.5.

 

im rocking a 2.5 lol. . . . as i was told, your employer isn't gonna ask your GPA as long as you got that piece of paper haha. . . though its certainly more important if you are trying to get in to grad school.

 

This. Average for most schools stay around 2.5 for the entire enrollment. That being said, all A's and B's is great for engineering or a hard science, but no one should be making any B's in political science/criminology/basketweaving. Since it's your first semester, congratulate yourself on getting through and learning the ropes, so to speak. It gets harder, but you get smarter as well.

I think you're just looking for some positive reinforcement. You've been through high school, and a semester in college. You know that no one will scoff at 3.0+ GPA. So here's a cookie.

I'm hoping to obtain a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. So much competition in that field, but Anatomy is interesting and the job pays well. So I'm happy

Yeah the university I'm aiming for would really like students with 3.5+

 

High achiever here.....3.95.....working on my second Bachelors now.....

 

I know when I was at USF all the nursing students were bitching about how hard it is to get into the program. Dunno how it is over in TX, good luck

 

My advisor told me the same thing. High gpa is good no doubt, but i think it's more important to get your name out in your field (volunteer, internship, etc.). Like the old saying, "it's not the grades you make, but the hands you shake"

 

I had 2.75 my first 7 semesters while playing football. Brought it up to a solid 3.0 my last year and a half after football.

I was on the 4 years and a victory lap plan!

Just gotta get that paper. And don't fail any classes that literally is a waste of a semester and money if you have to pay for school.

Enjoy it. It will go quick.

 

That was a big motivator to not fail anything. Paying for college isn't cheap and I can't waste my money.

Just ready to get school done with and get that degree. Move on with life

Just finished up with a 3.73.

 

Like others said, depends on your major. I'm ME and have to keep a 3.0 to keep my scholarships. I had a pretty rough semester outside of school and now have a 2.8, so I've got to basically get all A's next semester to get back up to a 3.0

This christmas break is a well needed break. Thanksgiving break wasn't even really anything. I had multiple papers due and a lab practical that monday after break

 

All I can tell you is that they done put your gpa on your diploma. C's gets degrees.

 

It does go on your resume though.

 

You probably need a 3.6 or higher. Email or touch base with the actual school of nursing and speak directly to them about GPA statistics.

They say at least 3.5, but i know that means the closer to 4.0 the better.

 

I finshed with a 3.0 and graduated with 2 majors. Granted History and Education are easy majors but still. Like everyone else says do Internships, volunteer, etc. For example with nursing volunteer, at a nursing home be sure to talk to the staff. Getan internship or volunteer at a local hospital, work with an athletic trainer at your old school or be an asst athletic trainer at college. Most of all be involved. Joining a fraternity, acadimic or disapline based honery are all good things to do too. Also enjoy collrge abd live it updL don't sweat the grades to hard. Also realize that if you have any night classes with those over 25 kids, house, and so on generally speaking they try really hard so try not to get pissed when they ask lots of questions and kill the curve. This will be even more true if your school has an RN to BSN program.
