If he payed $1700 for that bow he got raped, but it sounds like a good price for the bow with the case and looks like it has the sights and everything on it. Check into it but it looks like a good deal to me.

do like jolay said and have a local shop give it a once over, then go for it fireman! Sounds like a pretty good deal. It's alot for a first bow, but if you can wing the cash, go for it.

    in that case,
    1) pay off debt....
    2) do like Will said and buy a cheapy beginner at the pawn (or Wills:D) and pay cash....something to cut yer teeth on.........
    3) continue making original dept payment to yourself until cost of a new one is saved up.....
    4) Go buy a complete NEW bow set-up.........
    5) Keep first used bow and convert to a bowfishing rig.......

    just my two cents..........:D

well see the only reason I want to get a new setup is because I dont really know anything about bow hunting, and alot of people set the bow up for ya if you buy it from them. Ive got a few places in mind Im gonna go check out this week(if time permits)

Im still gonna do the save jar thing thou. Ive been doing that for quite a while..One of those fancy Foldgers plastic with a handle jugs..haha

the only reason i went used for my first bow was because if something happened and the bow broke on me....i wasnt out alotta money. you can get a bow set up at a shop for round $30 or so.......not too bad, and learn to shoot and all on a used one, then get a new one and make it the primary bow. im gonna keep my pawnshop bow as a backup....just in case.

well i already know how to shoot..been doin it since i was little.

I just havent shot a bow in probably 10-15 years now. Still got my old bow on the wall, and its a sad sight seeing it covered in dust since i always liked shooting. Promised the ol lady if I get a new bow she can have the old one since she wants to get into shooting also.
