2012 Bed liner bin lock install *with pics*

I bought two lock sets from the local hardware store, making sure that the numbers on the keys, matched in both sets, allowing me to use one key to open both bins.

Start by removing the 6x T30 torx head screws to remove the bin





**NOTE: All measurements will be dependent on the specific lock you get, however I suggest drilling the hole lower than I did to accommodate the locking arm better, the first bin got a larger hole than necessary due to lack of foresight**

Drill a hole the size of the lock shaft, I used blue painters tape to make it easier to mark the spot to drill and attempt to protect the plastic while drilling


the ribbing on the back needs to be cut where the red marks are and remove the walls inside that area to accommodate the spring clip that hold lock into place(completed in second pic)






lock installed from front side, you’re half way there! (well a quarter of the way if you include both bins)



Next you need to measure out, again varies by lock and arm used, and cut a slot in the bin(top side) for the locking arm to slide into. This took some guestimation on the first bin and lessons learned made the second easier, good news is that this hole will be in the ceiling of the box and not really vissible




Now reinstall the 6 screws and the bin is back in the liner and you can store items, cargo straps for me, in there without worrying if they will be there when needed






Also by using the same key sets for both locks you will now have plenty of spare keys

Nicely done, but I'd just use a torx screwdriver instead of a key... and take the whole box if I really wanted it.
