    So a while back, we were talking about Depth Of Field and why shooting at f/2.8 can leave photos a little soft.

    I was out screwing around shooting leaves when I decided to shoot the dog...at f/1.2--no real reason just because.

    For this shot, I was about 2', if that, away from him and he was moving (he's hard to get to sit still if there's a ball within 100' of him). Anyway, if you look at the photo, you can see the point of focus is up his muzzle a bit and that his eyes and his nose proper are out of focus. There isn't much depth of field. About a centimeter. Pretty shallow.

    The big ticket is that I tried to focus on his eye (using AI focus) but my focus point is really on his muzzle making most of him OOF. Granted, f/1.2 is extreme but f/2.8 isn't too far away from that so you see how a player's face could easily be OOF when shooting wide open.

    ... ^^^ ... I like that photo a lot with the B&W and color contrasts.
