Timberline (part of mt hood) is lame but decent. Same with meadows. If you can justify the drive from the pdx airport, bachelor hands down. Best place in oregon to ride, I have a season pass their and make the 3 hour commute to ride lol.

If you stay the night in bend, they have shuttles every 20-30 min going from their to the mtn and back for really cheap.

google maps says its about 4 hours. IDK anything about rental cars but 4 hours doesn't sound tooooooo bad.

If I make the trip I'll let you guys know. It'd be cool to ride with some locals

Yea I'd be there for a week. 4 hours each way in a day would suck. lol

Idk.. how much it would cost, how old you have to be, all that kind of shit i guess.

Ahh. Well atleast 21, and sone are like $15+ a day depending what you get. Some charge if you go over a ceartian mileage, some don't. Look in to what rental services are at PDX and then check out the rental car websites. Sjould list costs and such.

I used to work for Enterprise. You have to be 25 with a debit card or 21 with a credit card(not linked to checking account). Dollar rent-a-car will rent to you on a debit. They ALL match each others prices so if may save you $20some per day to check around.

Yep, Mt. Bachelor would be the best choice.
    Better quality snow.

It is cool to see Mt. Hood though, with historic Timberline lodge, etc.

Don't know if it would fit the budget, but you could catch a commuter flight to Redmond, OR (RDM).

i have a question that i'm hoping for some serious input with...and i'm hopin people with at least minimal knowledge w/ car audio will help me out.

Issue: I'm debating subs for my reg. cab and this is what is has come down to...
Rockford Fosgate P3 shallow 12" in a custom ported box...
OR... the JL Audio 13" TW-5 in a sealed box with .80 cubic feet.

now obviously the TW-5 will be better compared to the RF in the standard sealed box... but what if the RF p3shallow was in maximum spec'ed ported box vs. the TW-5

ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREAT! PLEASE HELP!

    OK here I go...

$15 a day is for the cheap ones at the discount places, and that's just the flat rate before tax or any of their extra crap.

I think you have to be at least 21. Most places charge a bit extra for those under 25 because they think you are still young and stupid.

I used to travel for work, so I've had a bit of experience. I strongly advise you to spend the little extra and go with a quality rental outfit. I tried the inexpensive places, and it was always cars I hated, something was wrong, it took longer, or the service was bad. Of course, by that time you are miles from home, stuck at the airport, and your options are disappearing.
I always go with Hertz and have never been disappointed.
They have great vehicles and usually tons of stuff in stock. In fact, they usually let me specify the model I want once I get there (I ask for Toyotas, Subarus, or Nissans), or I can trade around on the lot once I get there. Avis is great, but spendy. Enterprise is always staffed with sleazy used car salesmen.

Some places have a cap on miles (Hertz doesn't, so I drive EVERYwhere :D)

My other big advice is to check your insurance before renting. Most likely your regular car insurance covers you. If you have American Express, USE IT. They have a neat thing where if you paid for the rental with their card and you get in a accident, they can either act as your primary insurance, or as secondary insurance, which means they cover anything the other insurer doesn't. For example, I went into a Wal-Mart in Atlanta, and when I walked out, I saw someone had 'polished' my front bumper. Hertz wanted $170
-My regular insurance, Safeco, would pick up after the $500 deductible.
-Hertz would have been about $30 a day if I had purchased their insurance ($210 for the week).
Instead, American Express covered the whole damn thing. I paid nothing
Here's the basic insurance they give. If I traveled more, I'd probably step up and get their premium coverage

    Bring your own GPS.

Check gas prices with the Oregonians before you go. Most places give options for prepaid gas so you don't have to return the vehicle topped off. It's sometimes worth it depending on prices. Try to find a Costco near the airport and fill there, then top off at the airport where it's more expensive.

don't schedule pick-up way ahead of your arrival time, otherwise you will get to sit and do nothing at the airport. If your plane arrives in PDX at 9, schedule pickup for 9:15. They don't really care if you are a few minutes late, but they will rarely have the car ready early.

Other than that... make sure to inspect the car... if it's uncomfortable or hard to drive, get something else... give yourself plenty of time to drop it off...

I don't advocate hooning rentals, but I've done some 3 wheel action in a rented Pathfinder... and I try to rent the cars with the least amount of VSC ;) I never get close to what I would do in my truck, it's gotta return nice. Any intentional damage means insurance drops like a hot brick. If you get a bit rowdy with the vehicle and it gets dirty or dusty, take it to a car wash. I guarantee they already suspect what you are going to do when they hand you the keys, but keeping it clean is a nice courtesy and it keeps you looking like a good boy.

First off you are working in a limited space so your options are limited.
I personally think RF puts out a lot of dirty power. There's a lot of sound, just not great sound... then again MY EARS ARE NOT YOUR EARS. RF might be exactly what you want

Ported vs sealed: Sealed is for tight response, ported for boomy, slow, rolling notes (like rap). I prefer sealed since it's a truer sound and it has more dynamism.

Other than the JL, I haven't seen where a shallow mount can compete with a standard. Even with the JL, you are paying 3x the cost.

Why such a ridiculously big sub? My bud's '82 truck had a 400W monoblock and a RF 10" in a sealed, cheap truck box. The whole setup was cheap as hell but would drive you out of the truck. You don't have much cab space, you don't have to conquer sound barriers. Yes, a 12" sounds the best, but a 10" would be fine (heck I have a single 10"). Focus on a good HU, a good amp, and a good sub in a good box. Make sure the HU has 4V preouts or MORE. 2V preouts cripple the whole system, which is why 660W of RMS power to my sub sounds so puny

Why aren't you posting in the audio section?
