I know this question is totally bro'd out but my neighbor was just throwin out 2 perfectly good JL Audio 12" subs in a box. I already have a 10" Kicker CVR in a custom box but has anyone ever mounted 2 12"s in a reg cab? I'm very skilled in making my boxes and i have a large wedge shape design in mind to attempt to make. Any input would be great though so thankyou!

My buddy used to have 2-12's in an old regular cab S10. I'm sure it could be made to work, the question is why would you want to...

So sell the shit... you don't have the room in the cab to handle that much air movement. In my single cab s-10 back in the day I had 2 10 inch JL W0's and that was almost too much.

I get that part, but just cause it's free doesn't mean it's a good idea. Resell them, upgrade to a better 10" and retain at least some of the little bit of behind the seat storage you have in your regular cab. Just me $0.02 but 2 - 12's is overkill for a regular cab. Maybe upgrade your 10" to a 12" but the smaller subs usually have better response (I know not always the case).

I don't know if your going to be able to make a box fit with the proper air space for those subs behind your seats. As much as I love JL's, I agree with getting better 10's.

I don't get the 'too much sub for the space' either. I had 4 Cerwin Stroker 18's in a CRX that hit some crazy DB's for its time. That has to be 10x's worse than 2x 12's in a tacom cab, and it wasn't over kill I was going for SPL.

I'm assuming your just saying its too much bass for the cab and would ruin sound quality? Kinda curious to hear more about this.

I think a lot of us out here just wonder "what's the point of excessive bass SPL?"

Do you SPL guys use hearing protection when you get in the car? I have a single 10" sub in a double cab and it's easily enough to cause permanent hearing damage even played at moderate levels. I just think some of us don't see the point at all of focusing so much on bass when it essentially ruins sound quality when you have the subs turned on since you overpower everything else. I am not some old geezer saying "what's with these kids and their music" either because I love having big bass but I also like my hearing enough to know that 2 12s in my truck is just too much to ever need.

Hearing protection, not needed.. When you compete you get out of the car. Even then there are few systems that are SPL setups that actually make my ears ring. MTX Jackhammers will do it for you, but again, SPL sub.

As for daily driving, like A LOT of bass. I can't tell you why, but since I was a little kid and first heard bass, I was addicted to it. I love it.. So what your wanting to hear vs. what I'm wanting to hear is going to be night and day difference. I listen mostly to instrumentals in my car since I love rap, but hate the stupid lyrics. I just want the beats and Rap is great for bass.

2x12's could be just right for a single cab if the box fits. I can't see how the box would fit physically with such limited space but I"m sure it can be done.

I can hit you in the side of the head with a sledge hammer for free too...

(putting 2 12's in a regular cab would have similar effect to a sledge hammer)...

If you want that bro'd out sound where everyone else just hears your license plate rattle, then go for it, but it's a bit excessive, IMO...

well that's 'your opinion'. Your opinion doesn't have any effect to what I will put stereo wise in my truck/car.

As for 2x 12's hitting your head like a sledgehammer, come on that's just stupid. I've sat in cars that require you to have ear plugs, gun ear protection, and bullet proof vests from the pressure. Not a single one of them has made me wear a helmet due to a possible injury from skull fracture.

And as for 'rattles' that shit bothers me. It isn't hard to fix rattles in cars from subs. My cars do not rattle from the bass at all.

Well said... Never said 2 - 12's wouldn't work, I simply said there are much better systems for such a confined space. I still think 2 - 12's are too much for a regular cab.

Dude, it's called sarcasm... nice job explaining the difference between a sledge hammer and a subwoofer. Without that, I'm not sure we would all know the difference.

Yeah I'm just asking why you think its too big? too much power, too big of box? Just curious.

If that was sarcastic it was a horrible attempt at it.

And you never know with people these days if they would know the difference. :D

I think it's too much power unless you have the rest of the system seriously upgraded. If all you want to hear is bass, then great but if you want to hear what's playing, the 2 - 12's will just drown out the stereo.

Also, the physical space. There's not a lot of room behind the seats. I would think a better set-up would be a single 10" or 12" sub so you can at least put a sheatshirt behind the seats.

I used to have an old beater when I was younger with an amp and 2 - 12's in the truck, but now I'd rather spend the money on a quality deck, better wiring, sound dampening and a great set of speakers.
