Tweeters in Rear Doors of Double cab?

Anyone here got tweeters in the rear doors of their double cab tacoma? 2nd gen?

i don't think it's nessesary to have tweeters in the rear. Just upgrade the rear and hook them up with an amp. You'll be amazed.

 

I have mine set up as coaxials in the rear for now even though they can be mounted as components. They are mainly for rear fill in my situation, but actually sound pretty good. I was surprised! I am curious to see if anyone has custom mounted tweets in the rear doors.

 

well i already have 2 sets of comps... so Its pretty much for the fact that i don't believe in co ax...

My point is, IMO, rear fill does nothing but mess up the staging in the front. I rarely have anyone in the back seat, but even if I did, I'd still be more concerned with the front stage. Even if you like rear fill, I don't see much use in components in that situation.

But since components are already purchased, I'd probably cut a hole and surface mount them in the door.

 

I have two sets of the Elemental Designs e3.65i component speakers. They have an adaptable tweeter mounting system where the mid range speaker allows the tweeter to twist into the center and lock in place. It is pretty cool! I am running them as components in the front and as coaxials in the rear while I decide where to mount the tweeter in the rear doors.

This is the first time I have had a chance to run components in the front and rear. In my previous vehicles I have just run front components and rear coaxials. Do you think I should just stay with my existing set up? I have never heard of them hindering the staging in the front. That worries me a bit.

 

Rear "fill" done properly can actually be used to enhance the front stage and the rear passengers will sill hear it just fine however using a tweeter behind you will be detrimental to the front stage. Now on the other hand this only matters if you are actually concerned about the font stage.

Like I said, flush mount them in the panel. Use a hole saw or an exacto knife. If you are not wanting to do it that way, you could do an imitation coax by using some metal strap to make a DIY mounting bracket over the cone of the mid range and mount your tweeter to the bracket.

 

It depends on the mounting options you have for the tweeter. If they came with surface mount cups just find a spot you like and screw them in. If they came with flush mount hardware read the instructions on mounting them, remove the door panel and drill the appropriate sized hole in the easiest spot after making sure there is enough clearance behind it.
