The General Grabber AT2 vs Good Year Wrangler Dura Trac.
Which tire is better in light snow? Tread wear? Please add phots, would love to see some on the Toyota Tacoma Baja rim. Thanks for any advice. One side question has anyone had any luck with Cooper Tires? Thanks!

Just wondering why, people rave about grabber at2's.

 

I liked the AT2 when I had them....

 

They are great in the dirt. there are better options for a dd I think

 

I have never had an on/off road tire before. I have heard a lot of good things on the Grabber AT2. Excited to get rid of these stock tires. I just about wipped out the other day on some black ice. Even in the rain I am all over the place. I just have 23,xxx, miles on the stock tires. Anyone like the Wrangler Silent Armor?

 

i just recently put on a set of c load duratracs. gotta say i love them. I had the same desicion to make, grabbers or duratracs. went with the duratracs because they offer them in a c load compared to the e that the grabbers come in (265/75/16).

 

New to this...What is the difference between c and e load?

 

C is a lighter duty version of the LT tires.

E is designed for more loading bearing. A 3/4 ton full size (or better) would typically wear E rated tires.

I had the Duratracs on my jeep and it did well in the snow and rain last year. I was really happy with them. I will get them again for my tacoma when I am done with the stock tires if they are offered in the size I want.

Nothing beats a set of 4 studded winter tires. I noticed right away the traction in 4wd with the stock tires is excellent but the stopping and sliding is what sucks, even with ABS.

If there is anyway possible buy a set of studded tires. I just purchased a set of Hankook's, 245x70x17 and they go on this weeked. Have Hankook studded tires on two other vehicles and they are the best winter tires I have ever owned, period. Had the same tires on a Ford Focus that was just traded in for my 2012 Sport TRD and the Focus was an absolute tank in the snow and ice, better than my F250 4wd is without studs.

Used to run Cooper studded tires but once I tried the Hankooks never went back.

 

I used Goodyear Silent Armors one winter season on my 06 Tacoma 4WD.
After I hit black ice & went into an ice bank smashing the front of my truck, they became my summer tires.
From then on I used strictly studded Firestone winterforce tires on the taco for the next 3 winters.
I tow a lot in the mountains & in harsh weather so needed good tires. Did not want whirly birds w/ a enclosed trailer on the back.
It helped a lot stopping & elimated any 4wd use around town.
I traded the truck w/ Goodyears SAs & got close to 50k out of them which they are rated for. I really liked them so...

On my tundra, I elected to run Goodyear Silent Armors again...not certain they are going to stay on winter time due to what I experienced above.
I probably will go with Blizzaks or studded Hankook Ipikes if I can find them locally.

I really like that 255/85/16 look. Need a lift before my tires are shot though.

you are thinking about the Red Letter Grabbers, the OP is talking about the All Terrain tire

 

Also the Duratracs are supposed to be one of the better tires in ice and snow (they come ready for studs)
