trd cat back exhaust install

are there any threads on how to install exhaust on your tacoma? have no idea how to do it and am currently looking into getting one.

 

...Bolt it in. If it doesn't fit, you've got it backwards.

just increase performance, but both are pretty expensive so just trying to get more info before i make a decision.

 

Neither will effectively increase performance without headers, a MAF calibrator, and professional a tune.

I have both. Together, they give you a nice engine note, but that's about it.

The TRD catback being stainless gives you some added corrosion resistance, I suppose.

theres only a few bolts that hold the exhaust in.

 

I like intakes better than exhaust since the intake only gets loud when you get on it...

 

Cant view the video here, but tube length shouldnt matter. Its a metering issue that would cause a lean condition.

 

I would go for the exhaust first then the intake. I have both.
As mentioned before, the exhaust sounds good all the time and I like the stainless aspect to it. The CAI is susceptible to water intake if you go thru big puddles or mud holes. The literature on the CAI puts most of the HP gain above 4k rpm, I rarely ever go there. But it does sound throuty around 3k rpm.

 

How's the sound of the exhaust and intake over long car rides? It get annoying?

 

Its pretty easy to install. I looked into doing mine myself about a month ago. I chose to let the dealer install it cause the price was right. I talked them down to like $50 for the install after showing them what is involved. They tried to say that it was a set 2 hours per their regulations, but you gotta work for it.

If you want to do it yourself, there's two bolts and 4 hangers you have to remove. you don't even need to jack up the truck. Check out the install...
