Good thread. I used Saris roof racks on my old Pontiac and had dents at the pads, so I went with OEM for my truck. Couldn't be happier. I keep them stowed, but they're always available when I haul things that don't fit in the bed. They work very well, especially when I haul my surfboards when on surfari.

For those with Thule or Yakima crossbars, what size do you have....50" or 58"?

For those with Thule or yak, What is your weight capacity? Was looking at OEM+baja rack, but with 100lb limit isnt that much. Is it worth the chance or denting or messing up your paint for the thule/yak. Was looking at thule+MOAB basket also, how many ppl had problems if any with leaks, dents, or messed up paint with heavy loads? like say a hi lift and a spare tire with some camping gear? Thanks

For hauling a kayak , loading/unloading etc. I prefer the thule sportster bed rack vs. mounting racks on roof of my truck. That was my plan, until I scored a good deal on a shell with racks already on it. Now all my gear can be locked up in shell. I guess it depends on how long your yak is too. Mine is 15ft , so the shell supports the weight good and easy to slide on the back. goodluck

OK, check ebay for yakima and thule parts. I,ve save a lot of $$$ buying from ebay and often its new or slightly used. You can go to their websites to see what part # you need for mounting racks.

Good thread! I need a rack for my surf rods and yak. Can anyone post the specs/parts needed for either of the racks. 2nd Gen, Dbl cab, no OEM.
I looked at the websites for Thule and yakima but I am not 100% sure what parts I need. Did you guys just call up Cust Services? Planning on buying second hand from ebay to save some cash. Thanks for the help.00
