This isn't an "important" thread. This is a "rant" thread. Post popcorn to it all day for all I care. :D

that is pretty funny, but the OP is right, have to read through 100 dumb asses saying "sub'd" just to find the meat on the bone of the thread. it's annoying as hell.

maybe appoint a mod to remove those posts and "unsubscribe" them. that'd fix their wagons...;)

I have brought this up on other forums, and it is a losing battle, people don't know how to subscribe, and as easy as it is, they won't learn to save the rest of us. On a positive note, it is a way to get your post count up, so you seem more intelligent, at least that is what I have learned from the internet, posting is like collecting intelligence points...

I got caught in the see of pages a few days ago, after 15 pages of BS I didn't find the answer and I posted a questions and then got ripped apart because the answer was on page 17 and I was posting on page 35... and I got tired of reading "sub'd" and "tag".

LOL, I don't really care. But I am guilty of  thats different than Sub'd to me. Kind of a funny way to say can't wait to see what happens IMO. But I use the tools to sub otherwise.

Or just ban people for a day or two, but who are we kidding it won't work, rumor is that back in the old days, there was no subscribe button, and tagging was the only way to find a tread again without searching for it, and it is a nostalgia thing for most people. That is what I have been told by people with 500,000+ posts...

I would agree on some of the "off topic" threads, but disagree on others. I haven't started many threads but if someone works hard enought to develope a new idea or product a post in their thread both increases awareness by bumping the thread to the main page and also gives visible approval by people expressing interest. I can only assume that would be appreciated by the OP.

An example today would be Chase from ECGS discovering a bearing design flaw and talking about a potential fix. That ingenuity deserves monitoring and increased awareness. (I need to go subscribe to that.)

To clarify does simply using the toolbar to subscribe "bump" the thread up the main page? If so half of my point goes away.

When I update a thread that I started with more info, pictures, I put it in the first post on the first page, and if I know my topic is going to run long I post additional posts before others get their "sub'd" in so I can add more and keep it up front, this allows the taggers to do their thing, and for me to keep all the info on the first page and update as needed rather than let good info get buried on the 15th page and then the next useful bit of info moved to the 38th page...

But this is the internet, everyone knows best, and we can do what we want, whenever we want, for any reason. Oh well...

Nope, want a guaranteed bump? Ad a poll toa thread, ever notice a thread from 2 years ago pops up out of nowhere? And no new responce? Someone votes on the poll, bumps the thread!

Sure, on the first page. This no longer works once the replies run on to multiple pages, however.
