Thanks man! I will definately look into doing this. I can't believe that they have the factory FPR setup to where it doesnt actually see/use vacuum to the diaphram in the FPR to adjust the amount of fuel/fuel pressure from idle to WOT.

If this unichips kit starts to turn into a money pit with less than satisfactory results ill dump it and look into the URD Ucon. I believe there isnt one for the 09+ but one is in the works if I remember correctly.

Finally got the download cable so Unichips can take a look at my maps. Its now day 3 and I finally got hold of tech support and they tell me they cant do anything right now because there not near a computer to call back later. :frusty:

Try calling URD, Gadget might have some experience with the unit that might help you out.

I talked to him about the URD maf cal before I bought the unichips. He is familar with the kit and warned me about the custom "tune" without using the actual vehicle. But doesnt have any software or anything to help with the actual tuning of the unit. I guess I should of listened.

Have you considered AEM EMS? As I said Unichip is crap, it has potential if it could be tuned by and end user not just UNICHIP authorized dealer...

I have browsed their site before but did not see a ems/ecu for a tacoma or just a plain universal one. I looked into the proefi's pro 128 but its almost 2 grand. I agree it would be better to get it tuned with it on the vehicle. It probably still all come down to me getting a rental tuner kit and taking it to the dyno shop and dialing it in. But their willing to check the maps for free and adjust them. So I'd like to let them try if they ever decide to get to a computer and do their damn job.

Yes you would have to get universal AEM EMS, but I can guarantee that universal AEM EMS is 100 times better than Unichip...

Correct but on aem site the only univeral is for motorcycles, atvs, side by side etc. http://www.aemonly.com/electronics-...-91/aem-ems-4-universal-stand-alone-2166.html

There is also the Pro48. They can make a flying lead harness (wire in) or a plug n play harness. They are making one for my friend that is an '09. It is ~$750 for the unit. You will still need the harness and a few sensors, so it would end up being about $1500-$1700 total. Then of course you still have to get it tuned...

However that is after you have already spent time and money on your UniChip. We all know that it sucks spending money twice.

Best thing I can say to do, is take the UniChip off and send it to ProEfi or AEM. ProEfi, however, has the enitre ecu pinout for the '09+. The point is, that besides Unichip, there are not yet , other manufacturers that have the plugs for an '09+. So sending the UniChip to them would mean that they can make you a plug n play harness for yours. :D.

Well they finally made it to there computer last night. They "remapped" my unichips well actually they just threw some more fuel add it and called it a day. Will be trying to put it back in the truck after christmas and take it for a spin to check the A/F. I'm still going to get the rental tuner kit and take it the dyno shop to have them dial it in. But that wont be until after I get my tax return.

How can you just throw some more fuel in there, without running it on a dyno to see what the A/F does after they make these adjustments? Thats retarded, unsafe and stupid... With THAT kind of tuning you will never achieve optimal A/F ratio...

I have a wideband O2 gauge in my truck. I assumed they would of done more than just add more fuel to the maps but I was wrong. I know that what the did was well pretty much worthless other than maybe the possibility of it not running lean anymore.(I was more or less curious to see how they were going to go about adjusting the maps without having the vehicle to test anything......was pretty much what I was expecting from there half ass tech support) But as far as trying to improve the overall tune I will be renting one of there kits and having the dyno shop ACTUALLY tune the truck.
