Dont even consider that strap for off road trails and vehicle recoveries. If you need it for something like pulling a disabled vehicle down the road the a service shop or garage then it will be fine

 

I take offense to a lot of replies in this thread...it says right there on the front page "Quality Tools at Ridiculously Low Prices"....so, the tools has to be good Quality!!!! Right now I'm using all Craftsman tools, wonder how they compare to the HF Chinese shit...sure the Craftsman stuff is probably made by the same factory I hate it when the tool is not the exact size it's supposed to be and you strip the bolt head!!!!! I have definitely seen a reduction in quality in Craftsman tools over the years. I guess we are responsible for that, since we'd rather go to HF and buy the cheap shit...

PS. I bought one of these little gems to help sand the garage floor...pretty much useless. Took more material off by hand sanding, but at least it didn't break. Should work well on small woodworking jobs etc.

 

DON't ever use their C Clamps they are EXTREME POS!!!!! homie of mine tried using one to decompress his brakes to swap them out for new pads .... damn thing ended up breaking!! Yes that's right and NOT ONCE did it even budge the damn brake caliper so he can get it off.

 

I've been farting around on the internet...and it seems all the tools are now made in China, even the Snap-On brand. So, you might as well go to Harbor Freight and save some money.

my girlfriends dad bought an air compressor there the week we started dating (i went with them just to look around) now we been dating 2 years and we used that air compressor to paint his boat 2 weeks ago

 

I know this doesn't compare to the jd square notched but I'm looking for something a little cheaper till taxes. I just bought a jd square model 3 bender with 4 dies and going to start my bumpers soon will this thing hold up and is it any good ..

Also nice to see some ok tools coming from hf .. I bought the media blaster about 5 months ago to blast a car and it worked really well ..

 

This thing is great for pumping fluids. I use it to pump gasoline out of my boat's fuel tank at the end of the season. The gas will eat up the seals though in the pump. I consider this a disposable one time pump, especially when you buy it on sale for $5.

I did manage to get multiple uses out of the 2nd one I bought by pumping some oil through after the gasoline. But i still notice it wasn't pumping as well and saw little black strips of what I assume is the seal floating about.

 

This grease gun worked much better than the one I bought from Autozone. Not to mention, was a little bit cheaper too. When I saw work better, I'm talking about being able to pump grease. For some reason, the one I bought at Autozone had a hard time pumping grease out. It wouldn't prime for some reason. I had to take the 1st one back to AZ. I asked the person to see if they could get it working. They couldn't either. So we swapped out the grease gun with a new one and it worked instantly. That one got super dirty so I bought the cheap one from HF. Worked the 1st time no issues. And continued working throughout the year.

Can't say I am too impressed with craftsman tools, all of the rachets we have break, even the new replacement one we got was broken from the store and the edges on the handle were both sharp as shit The free replacement is nice, but the batteries for they're drills suck too. craftsman has gone downhill in quality like you said.

 

I have one of these. It works great as long as you use decent quality sanding discs. The POS discs included couldn't sand down a bunion.

 

I bought their closed end wrenches (those ones that you can swap directions like a socket wrench), I use them a lot and to tell you the truth ... I WAS REALLY expecting them to break or at least the directional selector switch to NOT be able to hold the direction you need it to BUT they work EACH and every time! I also have some of their adjustable wrenches (two 18" ones) and I LOVE THEM!!! just have to make sure that the pin holding the adjusting thing doesn't fall out (on one of the wrenches it did but I just wiggled it back in a little to where the teeth on the pin jab in then knocked that SOB in with their 4 ton sledge - which I also like using).

 

For the past year or so, whenever I've bought tools I've tried to only buy Non-Chinese made stuff. It's been extremely difficult! I'm kind of sick of only seeing Made in China on the back of packages. That said, I've had somewhat OK luck with the cheap HF stuff in the past. Although, their tools always seem to "let go" right at the worst time. I had a friend who bought one of their aluminum race jacks a few years ago. While we were at the track, the lift pad broke in half as he was jacking up his race car. After that, I decided that I would never shop there again. I would stay away from that stuff if it were me. I've been shopping only at local tool supply houses that stock some good stuff. Like Metabo, Bosch (the German stuff not China), and American made Milwaukee to name a few.

 

imo, you can kind of gauge most of the HF products before even purchasing them (meaning, just by looking at said product if it's capable of doing the job or not). Heavy duty things I tend not to purchase because of the fact that I need it to do some serious things (which I always go for companies I know for a fact have been tried and true to their performance regardless of price - gets the job done right the first time, so you will get your moneys worth/back, but if it's something simple, why pay so much ... hope that makes sense). From what I have been seeing their, some of the simple tools (like wrenches, clamps, etc.) work very decently, where as some of the electrical and proclaimed "heavy duty" stuff is clearly unable. My old boss bought that same jack you purchased most likely (if it was Blue and Silver and made by a company called General, then yes), at least yours lifted. not even a week or so of purchasing this jack ... it wouldn't even lift anything, not even where the platform was lifted, it was a POS PERIOD.

I have their adjustable wrenches, close ended wrenches, sawzall, 4 ton sledge hammer (keep thinking there is more) and they have worked fine for me (I have used them countless times when installing air suspension parts to installing reg. vehicle suspension as well as reg. parts even till this day). With their tools I have only exp. minor problems which I was able to fix/mod in no time and haven't had a problem with any since I have done the fix/mod
(there was a metal drill set that I purchased long ago, the bits were rounded at the ends, so I just took my angle grinder to it and put in my own triangle ' ish end so that they don't spin forever when they get stuck). I have only had one product go to sh*t on me (I was young so it might have also been my fault - 10 and trying to help out my pops ... bad idea i guess), it was a torque wrench, which I apparently have NO CLUE on how to use, my dad still has it somewhere (reminder ) but all it does now is turn round and round both ways.

 

No - but I knew a girl who spent $34 on a 3" x 3" "stamp tramp" and boy it didn't come out very well.....wonder why??

 

I still use these snap ring pliers to this day... and I used to use them to remove hydraulic rams off these!

And I have there 450 pound transmission jack, used it countless times for clutch installs and transmission work, never let me down. I went half on this with a buddy of mine. It worked good enough for us to build a custom roll cage for his jeep YJ.

 

x2 on a review for that its a 3x30 27k pound snatch strap, not sure exactly how it can be terrible, its not like its a complicated thing.


also the d ring receiver again, not very complicated, not much that can go wrong. its weight rating is also 500 pounds more than the popular smittybuilt one.
