Thinking about trading up..

Hello fellow taco owners.
Right now I have an 06 Access Cab 4x4 SR5 2.7l 5 Speed. I love this truck, and everything about it, but I am really considering trading in for a newer taco.

I really want a DC (LB or SB, not sure yet), V6 6 Speed TRD Sport.
The MPG difference between the 4cyl and V6 isn't a big enough difference to me for me to want to stay with the 2.7. I tow a lot, and my 4 banger has no power. Plus, the backseats in my access cab are just punishment for anyone who wants to ride with me. I would much prefer the double cab.

Thoughts?

You will love a DC I really like mine and the newer models have a little more room in the back then mine...

 

Here's a thought : you can't get a DCLB in the 6 speed

 

Go for the DC. Plenty of room.. My buddy is 6'5 and he said its 'not bad' back there.

 

I say do it. Personally i wouldn't own anything but an DC. It's just all around more useful even if you're not hauling people with you.

So to answer your question again, do it.

 

Trading up? Have you seen the new ecoboost? No one has ever thought of putting turbos on an engine to "improve" fuel economy, until now!

Go for it! You only live once...or so we think.

The DC will be a lot better when you have more than one other friend to haul, and you're correct in the MPG difference being negligable with the V6, plus be able to tow a little more.
You'll only be able to get the 6 speed manual in the DCSB, not the DCLB. Either way they're great trucks.

If MPGs are a consideration the double cab weights more.More weight equals lower MPGs.Most who complain about MPGs has a double cab.Go for the V6 which ever you get.

 

All I know, there is no way in hell I would get one of those new double cabs with the 4 cylinder. I would actually like to surpass 70 mph.. haha

 

I don't see a downside here other than the $. For towing I would say it should be a big yes, and I love the DC, I can't see ever going back to an extended cab. I've averaged about 19.4 mpg here in GA. Of course I have an auto.

Trade up? Nope, you will lose money no way around it.
Sell your present truck then buy the one you want. List it on criagslist for free.

 

Sounds like a good plan for the exception of OZ-T pointing out you can't get a stick. I considered trading up, and then soon realized I love having no vehicle payments too much, oh and that being regeared gets me over 70 uphill in 5th with no hesitation. For the sake of towing alone you should do it...pictures please when it happens
