THE PLASTI-DIP MEGA THREAD!!!!!!

nice. pinter from me. do not use tape at all. paint it all that use a razer blade and lightly cut the it. make sure you don’t cut to deep or hard(thats what she said) so you don’t make the plastic panel up. and as you peal it off of wear you don’t want it go slow and use the razer blade agin and follow so it wont pill wear you have it. it took me 23 min to get it from being all black to wear it is. i good my time and did not try and rush it. and GL

 

i don’t now yet. just did it. i did 2 light coats and 4 heavy. i throw change and stuff in their as well as use it for drinks.

 

ok i just went out and put the cup holders back in(they wear still drying when i put the think around shifter in) really liking the new look. not to much black but some. i need to do the trim around the a/c controls. also want to redo the center console lid.and it will be black.

Looks good on your truck. I painted the center cap on my back tire. Didnt look right on mine I don't have enough black trim.

 

yeah i really like how it looks. (i just now put 2nd coat on the trim around A/C controls) and i like how you did yours i may do the rest some time idk yet. i kinda like how i have the sides and the one part on top. most people do it like you did or just the little bit on the top.

 

mine was due to the mesh area's paint chipping off, you could see scratches (same with my Vent panel), my side on the shift panel aren't as bad. I'm going to also be putting in suede fabric on the center console. Irony, I trade my OE shift panel for the silver one a while back, basically painted it like how it was before.

 

If you can remember (this is really important stuff, man) can you check back in after a winter's use?

I'm just wondering how it holds up over time and I probably won't be painting or plasti-dipping my assembly until spring when it warms up.

Blacked out the B-pillar...it's holding up well so far, and perfect for when I go to sell the truck it can go back to stock.

I like that. How long did it take to remove the center console? Is there a write up of that?

 

doesn't take long, you will need to take your cup holder out first, then curl your fingers up a little under neither where the top of the shift panel is, and you will feel the bottom tabs and bottom of the shift panel. there is a write up too, I forgot where it is though (2gen Forum on here best bet - search "center console removal").
