Hey everyone, I was into RC a long time ago, and used to have a RC10T3 Truck, a TC3 AWD, and just a stock car. I am looking for some advice on getting back into it, but I have been out of it so long, I don't know what advancements have been made. Im sure there have been a lot of changes.
Should I go gas or electric?
I think I want another truck or buggy so I can play with it on the trails.
Team associated or losi still good bets?
Where is a good place to buy preowned? Or should I shop new?

www.rctech.net is a good forum site to look for pre-owned

Shortcource is the hottest class right now

Axial's Wraith, EXO Buggy, SCX10 Trail Honcho would all be good vehicles to look at

I would recommend electric, battery tech. has improved leaps and bounds. Brushless motors mean little to no mantainace, with more power and longer runtimes. Yes, Associated and Losi prolly still the cream of the crop, as far as racing goes, maybe not for bashing. Axial is well respected, Traxxas, and HPI are popular. It all depends on what you are wanting to do with it.

Thanks for the insight! I was planning on just taking it out on the trails with me and playing with it in the flat desert areas near my house, guess thats why I had thought gas maybe better because they last longer. I got out of it before brushless motors existed haha! back what 2000 batteries were the best! Im sure thats garbage now!

Dang! A 5000?!?!?! Thats crazy! Im used to the 2000 barely lasting the 10 min race!
I just found out that there is a Hobbytown USA not too far from me, so I think im going to go check it out. I know not to buy from them, cause they are overpriced, but at least I can pick up a few mags and see whats new!

Damn you guys!!! I have to buy one now. I wish i had never seen this thread haha.

Going to get that Axial SCX-10 i think.. Looking at Axial's website i noticed that they had several different versions, some of which looked more similar to a 1st gen Taco body. But they say discontinued?

    http://www.axialracing.com/ftp/scx10-rtr/index.html

Any ideas? id like the OD green one.

Yeah, when I first got into RC (mid 80s) a 1200mah battery was the largest available. A few pages back on this same thread, someone had posted some 13,500mah batteries, (IIRC).
