This is why I have almost all of my vehicles have been 4WD, to get off the pavement as far as possible great video.

wow, that's exactly what i'd love to be doing right now. if i didn't have 3 kids, a mortgage, a car payment and saving for college. lol. at least i can live vicariously through you guys for the time being! nice vids. that motorcycle seemed like a bit of a liability at times, no? i'd probably ditch that one for the next adventure.

It can be a bit, but it is a huge help to have. The majority of the time, it is A LOT faster than the trucks, so it works great to go ahead, check out areas, make sure we are on the correct path that will actually go somewhere etc.

It also works great for shuttling cameras, gear people.

Only on the really rough stuff does it get slowed down. I have lots of crash bars, skid plates, etc, i Have never sustained any real damage to it, other than some scratched paint. Most of those areas we are going so slow that really serious injury is not a huge factor.
And we ability to get it through anything we need too.

just watched webisode 2...all i was thinking was how bad i felt for the guy on the bike. on my dirtbike i could fly up all of the stuff he was getting screwed on. but with the shitty dual sport tire, the heavy bike weight and the side boxes i see how he was having such a hard time.

 

Like mentioned before I don't think I would have went for the motorcycle. But my lazy ass is setting on the couch so I'm not knocking any choice you made! What might have been sweet was a big 800 cc four wheeler. It could have hauled anything hell even a small trailer if need be and muled your extra gear everywhere. Like I said dream trip I'm jealous you guys stay safe and keep those badass videos coming!

 

I bet there were a few times when you wished you were on a smaller bike! an Xr650 would have had an easier time. But at least your not on the 1200! That is the cursed compromise of motorcycling though I guess, and until they invent a bike that can be a road king on the highway and a trials bike on the hills there won't be any way around it.

Are you considering a knobbier tire for the future?
