Help me decide what tires to buy!

yeah thats really good. im going to get km2s next probably. I got the coopers this time because they were cheaper and im poor...

 

Going to throw another one out here...Anyone consider TreadWright?? Not in the mood for stirring up a debate, but, they are an aggressive tire at a reasonable price.

I am looking into the Guard Dog, in a 285/75/16 for $124/tire

 

I've had the BFG ATs before, and was quite impressed - they wear like iron. But this time I picked up a set of Kumho Road Venture SAT KL61 in a 31x10.5 size. The Tirerack survey for ATs ranks these above the BFGs, and the price is much better. So far, I'm liking them, very grippy in the wet, we haven't had snow yet but the survey indicates a good snow tire too.

 

just an FYI

Yesterday I was driving around in 10-12" snow on unplowed roads and the BFGs just ate it up for breakfast.

No problem starting from a stop, no problem braking... making a turn onto a street the back end would wiggle (not slide out) and once pointed straight the tire would bite and get right back on track.

 

WTF, over.
That's not the BFG TA/KO tread pattern there. (and not the OWL of the tire you're pimping)

I don't care what the OWL on the tire says...it's a good looking, aggressive tire at a great price. I know, alot of people on the 'net will bash retreads. But, so many more people who ARE running these tires love them!

And I kind of like the fact that the OWL doesn't match the tread, makes it unique! Kind of like messing with the heads of the tire whores... like women and their purses, how often do you hear a woman say, "That's not a real Louis Vuitton!" Of course, the knock off can't possibly be as good as the one she paid $2000 for!!!

Im seriously considering the guard dogs in 31X10.5 for my next tire...but after shipping and mounting/balancing I only save like $100..

 

For me, their shipping is the EXACT same price as TireRack. And as far as mounting and balancing...WalMart allows carry in's and only charge $11.50/tire with lifetime balancing! Best of all no tax!

I heard nothing but good things about the treadwrights...They will be going on my DD...

They just look so damn mean!

 

Did Goodyear sell the tread design of the MT/R since they now have the updated Kevlars? The tread is identical.

 

your right...pretty damn close! No wonder why I like them. The old MTR's are pretty sick.

I doubt goodyear cares about an old tread design they dont make any more.

 

The warden A/T also looks like the same tread pattern as the bfg A/T.

 

I'm new to all of this so this maybe a dumb idea, but does anyone have any opinions/experience with the pirelli scorpion tires? I have the BFGs on my truck now but since I'm at 176K and they weren't new when I got the truck at 135K I am going to be looking for replacements soon.
