Can you identify this button?

Vehicle: 2004 4Runner SR5 Automatic 4x4 V6
This button was lost from my wife's 4Runner, theoretically it should be in the vehicle somewhere. But I have not been able to find it. I looked in the manual to see what it was, be could not find mention of it.
Is this just a blank silver plug or did it serve some function?
Can anyone help identify?

It should be a blank silver plug. It's used if the shifter locks up.

 

There should be a cover over it that matches your trim. If there is no power from the battery or if your brake switch fails, you will not be able to shift unless you push that in. That way you can put it in neutral for towing if after an accident you cannot shift. It's a shift override button. Normally you have to depress the brake pedal to shift out of park or back up from drive to reverse. If you push that in you can shift with no brake.

 

your just missing the cover. thats the shift lock like he said ^^ used to move the shifter without the truck running.
