So after many frustrations including a massive mishap with some epoxy glue and a broken notch on my bulb (will need to be replaced)...we have success on my 2012 Mini D2S Setup! I ended up shaving the housing where the adapter plate fits into and allowed it some play so I could dial the horizonal alignment in...made note of it and then used some heavy duty epoxy to lock it in place...I know the next time this comes off it will be getting an FXR Setup. Not the ideal solution...a new custom adapter plate would have worked better and I did try to make one with my dremel but it was a pita and I have a busy weekend. My advice...FXR or nothing IMO for a 2012...plug and play is not an option for 2012's without a custom adapter plate or some other modification.

Commander, thanks a ton for pioneering this for the 2012 owners. If you get a chance after the busy weekend, and have the burning desire to take your headlights out again for pictures of the required shaving/drilling I know we would all appreciate it.

Am I wrong thinking you have to bake these to complete the install? Debating doing my BHLM next weekend, but will put it off if I need to put them back in the oven when I get around to ordering a set of these.

Can I order a D2S Morimoto Elite HID System and still get the discount?

    Thanks

That kit doesn't qualify. It has to be a complete retrofit kit, stage III or above.

Yes, you need to bake them to seperate them and install the projectors inside.

Here's another question: what do you do with the wires for the led strip lights and projector lights when you rebake to reseal?

nothing, you're fine... The wires for the angel eyes i did were fine.

but if you want to be on the safe side, cut your baking time to half and use your clamps on the headlights while you wait for it to cool. When it cools down, put it in the oven for another half of your usual baking time.

just make sure nothing is touching the metal rack in your oven. I always use a flattened out USPS shipping box to place my lights on.

I cut the sections in red with a dremel cutting tool to allow rotation of the projector with the adapter plate. The blue line is the original axis of alignment and the green line is the new axis once its aligned...obviously mount the headlight back in the truck (I did it without the lense) and see how the alignment is before you glue. I used a quick dry epoxy as glue...just make sure its good for some high temp and you should be fine...I gooped it pretty good along the bottom ring and adapter plate so hopefully I won't have to pull it out again.

Another way would be to make a custom adapter plate kindof like this:

    Untitled_7be4ac826cd19df6d23e27397fc23c74aa631835.jpg

In all honesty it was munkeiboi and Wizzard005 who did this before myself but thx. Baking was required to separate and to remove.

I'd get on this one. The 4th group buy is still in the air I think.

Commander, trs told me all you need to do is modify the adaptor plate. I wish we had more pics of the Mini's installed on a 2012.

True you can trim the notch that holds the projector in place...but then you better make sure the nuts are tighter than a <insert blank>

There's always more than one way to skin a cat.
