    GreenEdge???

    From the 2012 brochure:
"The DoubleCab V6 models offer a more advanced display audio system with today’s most in-demand connectivity features. These include navigation, Toyota Entune™ services, SiriusXM Satellite Radio (with 90-day trial subscription), HD Radio with iTunes® tagging and text/e-mail-to-voice. This premium infotainment system plays through a JBL® GreenEdge audio system with seven speakers. GreenEdge technology helps reduce fuel consumption by lowering the electric power demand on the vehicle."

I'm curious how the new speakers will sound. Little worried that they compromise quality for being "Green". Although the current JBLs are probably a bit outdated, so maybe these GreenEdge things sound better too.

Here's the webpage for Harman's GreenEdge tech. Apparently Harman is JBLs parent company or partner?

Bullsh!t market hype to charge more.

The fuel economy wouldn't suffer any measurable amount. Toyota is wanting to cash in on the marxist green movement:anonymous:

This is just high efficiency speakers similar in design to the speakers used in pro-audio applications for concerts. I bet it gets louder than the previous JBL system and uses a lot less power.

Now that the trucks have been out a bit, does anyone have any comments on the quality of the new JBL speakers?
I'm still trying to decide if I should go with the entune system or not.

    Hahahahahahaha....*breath*...hahahahhahaha!

This has got to be a bad joke. The draw on the electrical system reducing fuel economy? Ok, so even if the original speakers were 91db efficient and this one has 94db efficiency they'll take half the amount of power to run the same volume level. Great, that's cool from an audio stand point. Really, I'm not being sarcastic.

But to say that will impact fuel economy is just the stupidest thing I've ever read in my life. Want to really impact fuel economy? Lose some fucking weight fatty! Take a dumb before you drive, use a half size battery, make the truck more aerodynamic...etc

The alternator creates an amazing amount of excess power and I don't think a few watts of power will really have any measurable effect on fuel economy.

Thanks for posting this.....I'm going to write about it on my car blog www.CarsAndCranks.com

So staying true to my word, I wrote a short blurb about this BS.

I was able to prove that taking a shit before getting in your car and not drinking starbucks will actually save you more gas. Check it out. http://carsandcranks.com/?p=538

Brand new and bone stock with many plans...
I have the new system in my '12 and I think its not bad. When you take into consideration that its a Factory system, its pretty good. I have had it up to some pretty loud volumes and not distortion and the bass stays pretty consistant.

Now, I never heard the other JBL systems from the 05-11, but I'm impressed with the '12.

But, it will never comparer to serious aftermarket speakers and a JL stealthbox with a few hundred watts of power.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the system. I would like to eventually replace the system, but I am in absolutely NO hurry!!

    Cheers...

Do you have an aftermarket Alt.? Also, At the end, you say there is a .007%, did you mean .07%?

Yeah definitely a typo, good catch on the final figure. Good to know you were following the logic. And my alt is stock from the towing package.

EDIT: Well holy crap, just realized it's a 130A and not 160A. Fuck it, I'm not re-writing it. I spotted Harmon/Kardon the listening at full blast which requires exponentially more power (due to the decibel system being logarithmic) so I don't feel bad. :D

Yeah, I saw the "160amp" and thought...."thats not right...." regardless, driving nekid would save more fuel than driving with a "green" stereo..
