I do NOT like it in the rear...

I got SLAMMED tonight, my fiancee and I were following mom and dad back to hotel. We drove 7 hours to the windy city.

We were at a stop light i saw it coming I told her to relax and I turned the wheel quick as I could.

He was DWI, he hit us about 50....

    Whatcha think the damage is?

It was a Ford van fully loaded down. My tacoma took that hit like a CHAMP!!! LIKE A BOSS!!!!

My back hurts, my fiancee's neck hurts, this sucks but I am VERY glad we took my truck instead of her car...

Tacoma, I love you and thank you for protecting us tonight....

    UPDATE
    Bump update

Ok so the body shop says its ok to drive....

Another place I got a estimate said if I drive it, it'll wear out the tires quicker.

Now the current body shop I said to fix it.

They said they are going to try and pull the frame, but if its not going to work (they said they're not going to pull anything off of it just try and pull it). They are going to have me pick up my truck and then they are going to order the frame which is a ETA 6-8 weeks... During that time I can drive my truck....

This does not sound safe.... Input? He told me its safe to drive right now but what about if they attempt to pull the frame?

On a plus side, getting 11--$ for my bumper ordering it on monday.

    So input?

Body shop said its not even close to being totaled btw.

wow man glad you are ok. you are right the truck did take it like a champ but it looks like that is gonna be pretty expensive to get fixed cause it looks like the bed may have banged up the back of the cab pretty bad. he has to pay for it right?

Yeah I looked for a way to move but my mom, dad and family were infront of us in a little car so I knew I would stop it.

When I saw it coming a million thoughts went through my head.

    BAD news :mad::mad::mad:

    Possible alien with no insurance.......

So guess my insurance is going to bite it? Not sure how that works...

Wondering if they are going to total it, was very surprised the air bag didn't punch me in the face.

More pics of accident scene and van tomorrow.

    glad everyone was ok...

wow, little damage for a 50mph impact

did the bed make contact with the cab? looks like the crumple zone on the rear of the frame did its job for sure..you'll have to see what the final inspection well say, but if theres frame damage that usualy means it will be a total by the insuance co.

Your Tacoma did it's job, THANK GOD you were not seriously hurt.

Keep in mind you may feel alot worse in the days and weeks ahead. I would go get checked out at a hospital or doctor to be sure.

I guess you'll have to see how much frame damage there was. That isn't always evident at first glance and can be expensive. I hope it's OK.

Same thing happened to me 2 years ago. Swope Toyota in E town replaced the frame. Took 2 months to get all the parts and repair. Ask Bob at the Toyota body shop in Etown about the white Tacoma a fews years back, he'll remember.

We're both ok, like I said tensed up.

Her neck hurts my back and shoulders hurt but think it's just cause I'm pumped and up and mad/sad/crazy right now ya know?

There was a cop that saw it all thankfully.

I'm glad because the fact he hurt my fiancee made my blood boil.

I hate not having a way out...especially at stop lights and on the highway. I'm sure being an FF you're the same way.

Depends on your coverage. Uninsured motorist would cover this.

That's what they said they thought he was going and it felt it.

Moved my taco about 3-5 ft.

I did thank God as soon as I knew I wasn't dead and my fiancee was ok.

If it's totaled I'll get another it possibly saved my life tonight.

    Will do!!

Same thing I thought.... Wonder if they will let me get my parts off of it?

Probably a good thing you said that, there would have been a couple jokes made

But anyways, it sucks that you got rear ended.

i actually rear-ended a jetta in mine, i have a winch and bumper guard, so the tacoma took it, bounced up and asked if that was all that the car could throw at it.

I can see the bumper caved in, if it chipped the paint on the bed (which with that impact i suspect it did, you will have to get the bed repainted.

i cant see if the frame is bent, but that could end badly as well. thee are other people on here who know more and will chime in

Thankfully I left at least 5 ft inbetween moms car and mine, or else I would have possibly hit them to.

I think the worst part besides my fiancee getting hurt is the fact I had to take it LOL

    It sucked...
