---Rear BED Light Bar---

Is there any companies that make rear bed light bars?? I searched a lot and could not find any. So we made this for my friend who wanted Lighting in the back bed of his 2010 toyota tacoma when he chases for us at the desert races....Here is the rear bed light bar that slides in to the Stock railings of the Toyota Tacoma. I had to machine out these special pieces to slide in the stock railing. It was a Big pain, but it came out fine and now bolts right up to the stock railing. But is there a company that makes a simple bracket or something to slide in the Rear bed stock rails,, so I dont have to machine out those special brackets?

Id look at cb antenna mounts.

Mine is kinda like an L. I just slid washers and a bolt inside the rail system to bolt the bracket to the rails. Then it has a whole in the top the size for an antenna to go through. Here you could use washers / bolts to mount the light. It won't shake at all...

Also, I'd reccomend an amber light instead of a driving light. There's lots of good cheap led amber lights. They usually have strobe options also.

I'm thinking of doing this as a warning system to get tailgaters / textets off my ass... My neighbor was rear ended in is taco by some guy texting in an f350. My neighbor saw it coming but had no way to really get his attention.. The light probably wouldn't have solved this incident, but maybe it could save another one.. It's probably illegal to iseonthestreet, but I'd like it in the desert and if I used it on the street, it would be to avoid an accident. I would just try to explain that to the officer if they pulled me over for it. From there, it'd be out of my control...

 

You over thank that a lot. You just need a tiny bracket to mount up to the bedrails. Or you could get a bed bar. I just added two "chase" lights on my bedrails. For chasing and also offroading in general.

Ya I make em too. I've found some nuts that do the job but they're still a few bucks a piece. Milling machine fixture nuts

 

I used some simpson strong tie L brackets from home depot. They are like $3 a piece.

 

yeah Amber light is the way to go on the rear. I run a cool L.E.D. amber light on my race truck and it works really well.

this pic might be a little better of the rear sliding bed bar. It slides right in as you can see. Let me know if anybody wants one. My friend just picked up one to mount his mountain bikes and he loves it!! Those pieces we made work better than anything I can find out there. (not much out there) And they are really good for the stock bed rails since you can slide the bar where you want. I made a couple extra if anybody is interested
