Bird poo!

I've had my wonderful green snout Tacoma for 5days! I have now had 2 bird poos on it! I am worried the poo will ruin my paint finish, will polish or waxing prevent the top coat from damage?

I'm on my way too the car wash to was it for the second time in 5 days!

Its not going to do much. It might buy you a little extra time, but in reality, you need to wash it off asap! Shit is acidic and it will eat clearcoats.

 

It's good to clean it quick. If you leave it to long it will sometimes eat the clear coat. I guess it also depends what the bird ate. Lol

 

OMG, I had to park under the train tracks here in Chicago one summer day. Got nailed in like 5 spots by pigeon shit and by the time I got home on that 95 degree day it had hardened so bad that soap and water wouldn't even get it off! Now I have those same 2" spots all dull on my truck...bought the pads and polisher to get them out, but, have never gotten around to doing it.

honestly id be more worried about the car wash. those things will scratch the shit outta your clearcoat. hand wash and claybar and wax frequently and youll be in good shape

 

Bird poop is worse than light scratches. Light scratches can be buffed out. The acid in bird poop will etch the paint beyond what polish can fix.

Keep quick detailer or spray wax and a microfiber in your vehicle and clean off the poop ASAP. It is better to slightly scratch your paint wiping off the poop than to let it sit.

Take a look at some car hoods the next time you're in a parking lot. You will see poop-shaped etching on lots of car hoods.

Also, I recommend never parking under a tree. Some people do that in the summer to be in the shade. You will get more bird poop (and more sap and other junk) when you're under a tree. Its not worth it, IMHO.

 

I was told baby oil makes it soften and come off easily. Dab some on a soft cloth and let it sit on the poo a minute, it'll come right off.
