What are good gears for daily driving?

Hi,

I have done some research but didn't come up with anything definitive. I know I am going to regear after getting my 35's...

My truck is my daily driver and I know some gears are better for off-road use, but aren't designed for road use and vice-versa.

What I need is: which gears or gear brand do I need for normal daily use? Basically, just like the ones I have now, but 4.56...

i regeared to 4.56 after i got 35's. makes a nice difference overall for DD use. even the shifting on the auto tranny feels a little better. chase from EastCoasGearSupply did my gears

i think 4.88's will be geared too low for DD, for the trail those will be fine.

 

Any particular brands ?

 

Nitro or Yukon..maybe ask the experts at ECGS what they prefer

Ya 4.10's if you want to keep the RPMs down but regain a little power, 4.56 is the most common and recommended though and 4.88 would just be too low for a DD IMO

 

That's what I am going to do...

Although I am slightly tempted to have them install the gears in one fell-swoop while they do the lift, to try and save on some labor while they have the front end apart... but I don't want my final ticket to be TOO high... so I will wait.

I know when I lifted my chevy years ago, I went from 31s to 35s and was still able to burn them with no issue. Taco is a different truck, and I just don't want to be strugglin for power every where I go.

I'm thinking 4.56....

 

Are you re-geared at all? I tried looking for a build thread form you, but couldn't.

I remember you helped me a few months ago in deciding if I want 33s or 35s in my research. Your trucks are awesome.

 

If your driving a manual, you can mask the lack of power by adjusting your shift points keeping the motor in its power band, in a auto you have no choice. I notice a big difference going from my 33 to 35's on stock gears, when I do go to 35's permenatly I will regear to 4.88's over 4.56's to help overcome the extra weight in armor.
