Any Comments on TOYOS OPEN Country AT?

I switched to the P265-70-16 Toyos O.C. AT since the OEM Rugged Trails were horrible on snow/ice.

I am happy so far, but I am not sure what PSI to run with these? I tried 32 PSI, which is my favorite "safe" pressure, but I feel a slight fishtail? Maybe it is because we have windy days recently.

I am happy with them.

I spent a lot of time on soft sand some rocky terrain too. Sometimes I did not air down on soft sand and they got me where I was going without getting stuck. I kept them 28 back 29 front. I got stuck only once going uphill so I aired down and I was able to back out.

I was getting a slight wobble on the highway, but when I had my first rotation and rebalaning the wobble is not noticeable any more.

I RATE them 8 / 10

If it was not for the slight wobble I would have rated them 9 overall.

 

I love these tires, they grip real well and are pretty good on the miles. My parents have em on their suburban and they grip so well for that truck that in parking lots they screech on turns. lol

 

My understanding in that the toyo A/t and terra grappler are have the same exact rubber compound only difference is the a slightly different tread pattern.

Lundy- I was looking at the Toyos but wasnt sure which one would be better in snow.

 

I had them for 35,000 miles on my 2005 Tacoma... Didn't get to test them in snow, but they were fine in the desert and quiet on the highway. I don't recall the pressure that workrd best,... but I will guess it was close to 35 psi. Just try various pressures or do the chalk test.

 

david- thanks for the info everything I have read is that preform almost identical to the terra grapplers. I actually just got the dynpro atf-10 ( spelling and model maybe in error) for christmas and I have snow tires for the winter ( as soon as gets cold enough to put them on) So i am set for a while.

 

They do well in the snow however nothing will be better than a true snow tire. I've ran terra grapplers in the winter here in the Tahoe area wit no issues but my AWD Infiniti with snow tires feels much more safer in snow and ice.

 

Lundy I feel like I just talked to you. Haha ya I picked up a set of blizzaks last winter for the truck. Putting the hankooks on in spring.
