any ideas to get it off there? it's from warming up this past winter for 10-15 min every morning. i don't have a garage, and i don't scrape my windows. wonder if i can get my dealer to give me a Warranty detail?

what's the deal with the rich fuel mixture?

BTW--i only run 91 or higher and only buy non-ethanol fuel since new.

regular wash will remove it. wax will help prevent some future build up, and ease in removal of the carbon buildup.

i wash & wax the truck on a regular basis using quality soap, wax, etc. i don't think this is carbon...it eats the wax of the paint and makes it dull and "rough". my exhast tip is also slightly dulled and rough to the touch. i have tried serveral things to scrub it off, to no avail. i think i may have to get some compound & a buffer, or maybe some clay will bring it up. probably the "good" gas we get here in Ohio...we have no emmisions standards, so we get crap fuel here.

Sounds like we're getting into a debate over whether or not it's carbon. I say...

Well I am not getting any black/brown just. But around here there is ALOT of salt dust. So on a clean truck it builds up around that area especially when its cold out.
But on a better note on this end, a pitcher of water takes it off.

alright, will post up as soon as it gets washed...can't see it through the salt spray at the moment. i'm hoping to get decent weather so i can clean it up this weekend.

Simon 2150: it means the air/fuel mixture going into the motor has more fuel than is needed. the opposite would be running "lean".

i'm not sure. i can work on my vehicle, but i'm no "tuner". i guess the CPU would have to be re-programmed, er...calibrated? i can only remember seeing one guy on the forums who leaned his up...maybe with a scanguage/hyperchip type device. the CPU senses X amount of air entering the intake (mass air flow sensor), then it tells the injectors to squirt X amount of fuel relative to the volume of air. you would have to change the ratio of fuel the CPU thinks it needs to attain propper mixture according to factory-set program. exactly how you go about doing this is beyond my knowledge.
