I went through the same debate this past summer. I ended up with the double cab short bed. My final decision was based on being able to haul my Honda 400ex in the bed. I can get it in the bed but it hangs onto the tailgate a bit. I solved that problem with the bed extender that I had the dealer throw into the purchase and I love it. It's pretty short when you get to hauling lumber or kayaks but so far it's been ok for me. I realized I couldn't fit the long bed in my garage so that was kind of the main deal breaker. I'd say if you don't mind a longer truck then definitely go with the long bed.

I would have bought a long bed if the option was there. But no TRD/OR in a long bed...

If I would of bought the long bed it would not of fit in my garage!

Rarely carry anything in the bed so the short version was perfect for me.

I say try the search function, read all the threads already made on this subject and then make your own decision. I chose short cause I couldn't get a manual trans with the long bed.

No offense intended at all OP , but these kind of threads are kind of redundant because the only one that can decide which configuration is right for you , is you .

You said in the OP that you have already decided on a DC Sport , so it really comes down to the transmission ( can't get a manual in the longbed ) and your needs for bedspace .

Well expressed OZ-T, but you better lose that avatar or people may stop taking you seriously:D

Furthermore, I believe a DC longbox gives a longer wheelbase. You might consider this in your decision.

I just bought a short bed. Like others, the long would not fit in my garage. With the long bed, your are getting very close to Tundra size so why not upgrade to a full-size truck with a huge cabin and V-8?

There is no one answer to this question. Depends on the driver and the usage of the truck.

I use it as a daily driver plus I like to hunt/fish/camp/boat/sleep in bed etc so I got the long bed. Plus long bed looks better in Double Cab.

    Guys,

Are the rear seats the same size whether or not its long or short bed? I was told by the dealership that the long bed sports version has a roomier rear seats/area.
