New Evo's are not too bad. They have come a long way. I was waiting for someone to say something about the EVO. I had an 03 with minor bolt ons and a tune and layed down close to 400 hp and around 350 tq. I would have to say if you can find one that wasn't rode hard and put up wet, it is by far the best bang for your buck. You can get one for 1/2 of your price and have the other 1/2 to dump into it. Race car is exactly the thought I had the first time I drove one!

Got to drive an 08 Bmw 3 series sedan with the twin turbos.. and that car drives amazing, I could only imagine what the coupe would drive like with less weight and the same power

Not bad, especially for the money. Not really what I'd call a sports car though. I do like the power potential though. I think I saw a 1Series with a DP and tune run doors with a Gallardo.

    I am, and I do!

More like 250 or less. Over that is possible, but it would get expensive QUICK.

About the Lotus Elise/Exige... They are good cars, that are BRUTALLY fragile. There are stories of people getting their Lotuses totaled after gently hitting a curb while parking!

I could run a wine bottle gently into a curb and not have it break. How on earth could you GENTLY hit a curb parking and total a vehicle?

And now I've started looking for TVR Sargaris's in the USA....sigh, I can dream.

Look it up on the Lotus forum. It was posted on the Miata forum (linked) by a forum member that owns both a Lotus and a Miata.

335 for sure. I traded mine for the taco, but that car had incredible acceleration at any speed and loved the corners. Can't tell you how good it felt accelerating out of a turn. Hands down a 335, properly tune that sucker and you've got yourself some pure joy.

    a buncha fuckin toyotas
A Supra if you like to go fast...

An AE86 if you like to go Sideways...
As long as you don't go to "rice" with it...

For a new car though check out Toyota's FT86. I think it's supposed to be right around that price range.

Hell even an old Camry with a manual transmission would be fun to drive.
It'd even be fun to sink some money into it. Never seen a sleeper Camry before...

Well I don't want a NEW TVR...I'd never be able to afford that. But the used ones can be had for a reasonable cost. Finding parts for it would be an absolute nightmare but fuck...it would be worth it! I just wish they were legal here.

    Too many mods to list
The truth is if you are looking at an RX7, weak something should be the least of your worries, as you should be buying the car to put a lot of money into it.

If you just want an nice, fun, decently fast car, RX7 is not what you want. RX7 is a machine that was made to be converted into a monster, not a weekend getaway.

Nissan 370z, BMW 323 or 335, Audi S5, those are some nice weekend cars. But if you go RX7 way and get bit by the performance mod bug, say bye bye to your retirement money.

I agree that the performance bug will drain your account but that goes with any vehicle you mod. Your always left wanting more.

In the video it ooks like and issue with lug nuts or studs snapping off.

The newer ones are nice too. They are a bit heavier and a little less like a race car. They make great power with little mods as well. They are a little faster on the track than the older ones, but a tad slower in a straight line. Still too new to really talk about dependability. You can always head over to EvoM and check it out. Great community over there.
