Best way to change antivirus software

McAfee came with my pc and expires in a few days. Do I need to uninstall McAfee from my pc before downloading the new antivirus software or will it not be active once it expires? Also if I do need to uninstall how exactly do I go about it to remove it completely. I have heard that with some you need to use another software to remove the old antivirus.

I would definetley un-install McAfee first before installing any other anti-virus software. Just go to Add/remove programs in the control panel and un-install it there. Also, make sure you reboot after in-installing, then go ahead and re-install the new software, and don't forget to update you virus definitions.

also i highly recomend the norton 360 its about 80 bucks retail but you can find coupons for it online. dont forget your windows udates
