I am Greek Orthodox and believe in God and Jesus Christ. I no longer attend church (although I still belong to one and maintain my yearly stewardship), I pray everyday and sometimes numerous times a day in privacy.

That means it's about time for the exclusion from taxes to stop. And you can claim your offerings/tithes on your taxes? Bull freakin crap.

You can claim donations to any charity on your taxes. Employees of the church still have to claim income for tax purposes just like any charity.

Means, I don't care what religion you are, just keep it out of my state/federal offices and laws. This country was founded on state being separate from religion, since the combo has caused more problems in other countries, but we still can't separate it from our current government.

I am a Catholic, but I don't want any "catholic" influences in my state/federal governing body, because not everyone is catholic, this is not a single religion country, and it shouldn't be; it is kinda cool that people believe different things, and I don't think anyone is wrong in what they believe. I think people that think that other religions are wrong are the real problem with the world, religion is very personal.

I also agree that religious organization should not be tax exempt, most of them run on a business model and raise money for their efforts, they can get tax rebates from the charity work they do, but they shouldn't get tax exemption on the non-charity things they do.

Sorry for the hijack, I just get angry at all the money and time wasted over nativity scenes in front of gov. buildings each year, just take the religion out of state and you can put the time and money arguing over these things every year towards something good, feeding the homeless, or passing budgets...

So funding mission trips to preach a gospel that isn't proven true and buying better electronics than most schools is considered charity? You don't see the fail in this??

If by "most schools" you mean public schools, your accusation is a fail. Public schools spend their money on far more things including golf carts and other things to make the school look nice. Most Church schools are owned/ran by private individuals. Also, Church schools are much much smaller than public schools.

he's talking about charities that give computers, etc to schools that cant afford them. there are many schools out there that get very little funding for anything.

Nope. It wouldn't be any different than any organization that falls under 501c3.
I doubt seriously that a majority of religious facilities are better equipped than most schools. I think you may see a few examples, but most are struggling to get by. There are examples too where organizations do missions which are solely preaching the gospel, but I would bet most do other things to help those people.

For example, one couple we fund, provides homes, help and education to children who were sold to human traffickers (in Laos). They rely solely on contributions in a country which is hostile to their beliefs.

Wow why the "sadly" on the end? Didnt Jesus say love thy neighbor meaning to love one another regardless of what you believe? This is one of the few quotes from the Bible that I completely agree with.I am nice to people and do good deeds because I want to and because I think there is too much wrong in the world today not because an old guy on a cloud demands me to or else I will burn for all eternity. What many believers need to realize is that most atheists are good people just like there are many good Christians, Muslims, Catholics, or any other religious sect. We are still people, we still feel happiness, sadness, empathy, regret, etc, etc.The only way we really differ is our answer to one question..."Do you believe in a god".
