My wife got me one of the LA police gear bug out bags for Christmas

 

LOL! That was a long post. And yes as mentioned at the beginning of this thread, that is a good book even though an EMP will probably not render all vehicles dead. However are atiquated electricity system in this country will go down quickly. Why we don't fund fixing it and the roads, bridges in this country instead of bailing out doomed companies, foreign governments, or funding green technology is beyond me. Stupid gubment.

 

Well Jez you were correct. It says "made in Taiwan" right on the blade. Still a nice knife/machete with good balance. Came pretty sharp and feels durable also.

Cool kit. I bought my son a BG folder from Gerber a few months ago. The knife lasted two days before it disintegrated. I'm sure Gerber has some good knives but the Bear G series seems all about marketing and less about quality. YMMV.

 

Working in the industry I do, generic "fix the economy" posts with no basis or ability for a real solution are a bit of a personal peeve. I have no problem with your opinion nor posting it, and I am sure we share many. I just dont think this is the proper thread to pepper them in.

I will probably keep it around the house, as I have a couple knives/tools in the truck already. I will take it camping and whatnot, and it will probably go under the rear seats, where I keep most utility items, or stored with outdoor gear.

Gerber seemed to have really dropped like a rock when they started moving a LOT of production overseas. I think the problem was they were making quality USA knives at a good price, then tried to switch (and drop quality) at the same price, when companies like BUCK and Kershaw kept reasonable USA knives close to the same price.

Then the marketing took over. I had a couple old Gerber knives, and would not consider them any more...

 

I love this haha, I'm all about it, I have my taco all stocked up as well. OP the only thing your missing is more guns and ammo .

Well if it's such a problem then why keep bringing it up? That was like so 10 posts ago...maybe we should be Moving on......





So back on topic...again...I added to the first aid section of my B.O.B. Got a few Israeli trauma bandages and a quick clot bandage. It's pretty complete now except I still need some advil or tylenol in there. Still need a way to filter water and a modular sleep system but I ran out of cash with Christmas and all. I plan on doing some good hikes next summer with all this stuff. But camping season isn't for awhile so I have time unless TEOTWAWKI happens before then.

Santa brought me a Crovel for Christmas : )

 

He brought me a kickass SOG folding shovel, a Gerber survival kit (mirror, fishing kit, multi-tool, fire starter ect.), and a nice LA Police gear bag.

 

Isn't it a shame we can't take a person's word anymore for the truth. The world sure has changed and....OHNO!!! Don't want to get off topic for one single sentence. My bad!


Just poking fun...Anyway this bag is huge and it carries a lot. A whole lot, lol. Way too much for a hike, but a bug out situation is another story and it's all coming in that situation.

The sleep system will fit in the big pocket on the bottom of the pack. The two multi-cam things on the sides are canteens of course. Really need that Katadyn Pocket water filter. All the making fire stuff and the fuel for the stove are in the pocket above the Glock entrenching tool. (The black thing attached to the back of the pack).





Here is the front of the pack. I have a Streamlight Sidewinder flashlight (this thing is sweet!) on one strap and my SOG PowerAssist multi-tool on the other.





Here is what is in this thing so far. I did not unpack all the individual cases cause it's a ton of stuff. The stove is in the pot on the left. The orange pack to the right holds all the food and extra clothing. There is an Army Survival Manual under the edible plants book. Good reading and shows how to set traps and such. Like I said this pack is huge and well worth the $85 or so I paid for it. It's issued to our troops right now and it is very durable. Army surplus is the way to go for value IMO.





In a bug out situation(which I pray never happens) this will be going with it along with my favorite projectile spitting device. It holds 300 projectiles.

Your right, that is a huge pack! I had a blackhawk Titan with built in hydration but it was way to big for my needs so I downsized to a GI backpack. and now im about to switch packs again. I take new pics tonight of my LAPG bag
