Last night a guy did not yield when he was turning and pulled out in font of me when I was bringing friends home after work. It was a newer dodge pickup with a double cab. I'll have to get photos of his truck from my friend. I wonder why the air bags did not go off?...

What speed were you going? I may be wrong, but I think you have to be going over a certain speed for the airbags to deploy.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
brush bar has nothing to do w/ airbag not going off. the airbags are inertia driven and only deploy under specific circumstances. they arent impact driven like older ones.

Oh no. Sorry to hear that. I loved your two-tone truck. Hopefully it can be fixed.
Glad to hear that you are okay - that is the most important thing.

The airbags only deploy if the deceleration profile is severe enough to warrant it.

The big idea is that deploying the airbags has a risk of secondary injury and in certain accidents not very useful - or, the collision causes secondary collisions that the airbags would be more useful for. So, the airbag computer actually looks at the data as it comes in and makes a decision.

Car companies spend a lot of money and time improving and refining the programming of these computers. That'd be a fun job, I think.

Actually it looks pretty good considering. Luckily no one was seriously hurt. I would say it is definitely repairable.
