Yeah Sean , I try to keep the secondary leaf as well but this whole process is key on re using the main leaf for sure.

As long as the 10" from eyelett of main isn't actually bent, they're rebuildable see pic...

that would be the area colored in violet, blue marks are star & end points for determining it

 

i'll have to look again, but I think that part is fine. Last I looked it seemed like the front half of the pack is going upside down.

 

Are your springs stock now? or TSB ?How many leafs currently ??

I mean you could build a whole new pack off just the main , I just haven't had to do it yet but that is an interesting idea, sooner or later sure I'll do it though, send me a good pic or 2 of yours

 

stock leafs with a 3-leaf aal. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow.

I feel like the weak link is the first 2 leafs and they need to be re-enforced if you will.

WTF is up with that ??? this is exactly my bitch about 99% of the aftermarket AAL's (not that Toyotas any better, its worse)

Ya, I have the wheelers. I worked great for a year, then it started taking after the toyota springs. My tinking is that its not ment to correct springs, but just to help. And these toyota spring need more support then most aal can provide. And with a good couple leafs the aal will be just fine, but I don't really know just sharing my thoughts.

 

Alright, if I can get a break from working on Jeeps I'll snag some pics.

did you guys put an anti-friction pad at the end of the new leaf that was added? ive been wanting to do this but dont want it to end up squeeking

 

Your pretty much on target Sean, unfortunantly most all the AAL's are like slapping one POS on top of another, in fairness to Toyota I like the soft sprimg for the 1st inch of compression & thats it, they turn to mush after that, that was when my brain farted into action with incorporating that initial soft inch with the addition of some truly upgraded springs/steel for the results I've been getting

heres a crappy pic but my front coils are set at max (2,5") & 3 " lift in rear

Yeah I add some anti squeeks too just waiting for Chris to come back in a day or 2 so I can re torque U bolts, I'll add them then

 

u can get them from an auto part store correct? Don't u also put some thick grease in between the leafs as well?

 

Yeah pretty sure you can, i dunno about the grease, seems it'd be ok for a bit but soon it'll start picking up dirt & STICKING, possibly working its way in between leafs.

What I've been using is the sidewall off of a wheelbarrow tire, no shit... works like a dream, just cut into small pads
