the ls 430 is a sweet projector but, its a big ass heavy projector i had the similar in design albeit bi-xenon ls460 in my truck and it was a bear to sort out the issues that are inherent with such a big projector.

most notably would be the rear of the housing how is it sealed up iirc you still have to hack out a hole in the rear to fit the 430 in our headlights. also the weight and size of such a big hunk of projector hanging off of the two mounting screws can lead to some rather serious issues.

i had problems with both of the aforementioned things on my set-up so i thought i would bring them up and see who did the retrofit and what was done to ensure these things don't go happening to the next guy who picks them up not knowing much other than that they are the best projector.

that and i'm actually curious about it myself as retrofitting has become somewhat of a hobby of mine lol.

 

IDK what problems you were having but the guy is a local guy, WELL known, and no one had problems yet! Ya its big but if done right, shouldnt run into any problems! what kind of problems were u having, you just said you had alot!!! and yes you have to cut as well as MOST Projectors! but THe back of HEADLIGHT is stock, ONLY BOWL is cut, u DONT CUT THE WHOLE DANG HEADLIGHT! if u look from back u cant tell difference between mine or STOCK besides the back OF THE ACTUALLY BULB, NOT H4 connector! thats it!

i had thought the rear of the housings had to be cut in order for these to fit in there? if i'm wrong then that solves one possible issue and i guess i spoke to soon. the weight of these is another possible issue one that keeps many guys away from these. trs stocks these btw they are one of the rarer projectors but, by no means really all that difficult to find. the q45 projector is tough to come by but, these guys can be found relatively easily.

i was looking into doing a set of these my self so i had some actual questions thats all. i'm always curious when it comes to this stuff i'm something of a light nerd myself.

i have seen guy's do set's of these in other cars that weren't professionals on hid planet and such but, the 460 and 430 have to be some of the hardest projectors to retrofit there size, weight and the amount of modification that needs to be done to the housing is fairly extensive.

so when a guy pops up who i never saw before selling a set i wanted to get an idea on how they where done thats all. i don't want to see one of the guy's on here pick up a set of lights that are going to be more trouble than they are worth.

btw most retrofitters unless they are looking for a challenge or have some free time on there hands won't recommend or even do these projectors for 2nd gen tacomas due to their inherent issues that follow along with them.

i also had a set done professionally of the ls 460's and i had some major issues with them. the only reason i brought it up is because they are the hardest projectors to retrofit in our headlights. i have done something like 10 or more retrofits myself and i don't claim to be an expert or anything. i'm just trying to get an idea on how you did this. they look nice and everything but no shots of the cut off where posted and none of the rear of the housing either.

i have had some extensive experience with the 460 and they are very similar in design to what you have and when i had mentioned "hacking up the housing" that was in reference to the gaping maw of a hole that has to be cut in the actual rear of the headlight housing and then sealed back up. like i had mentioned i wasn't sure if the 430's needed the rear of the housing to be modified or not i had thought it was mandatory i never messed with the 430 personally but, i figured i would bring it up as that can be a problem area when retrofitting.

also another member on here had got the ls 460's after me and he is having problems with the alignment screw coming out. thats due to the weight of them some thing i had mentioned before. our reflector bowls where never meant or designed to carry the weight of a projector. especially not one of these as they are some of the heaviest things you could stick in your headlights lol. so i thought that was a valid question

minis fx-rs stuff like that seems to be ok in the long run they are not so heavy that they strip the bolts out usually. but, my 460's where literally 3 times the weight of an fx-r projector they are absolutely massive in comparison bud. the plastic screw inserts that hold the reflector bowl in place play hell holding up a projector of that weight. i'm not sure how heavy the 430's are but, if they are anything like my old set-up precautions need to be taken to ensure your lights aren't facing the ground after a few good bumps. precautions i didn't learn until i was on my third set both me and the retrofitter had a ton of phone time discussing possible ways to mitigate this from happening again and to no avail. i ended up scrapping that set up in favor of something smaller.

i was not my intention to get up in your business and i'm not trying to get on your bad side here.

so to be clear my questions where as follows.

how old are they? do you have any additional pictures of the rear of the housing where you say it looks factory and any shots of the cut off as that is the main point of retrofitting these beasts in the first place. they are fucking epic when done right i'm not debating that.

the ls 430 and 460 are the most advanced large and impressive xenon projectors ever made in both bi-xenon and low beam only. they just happen to be extremely tricky to retrofit

post up some more shots satisfy our curiosity and call it a day brah

 

ant has had some issues with his 460's coming lose or something to that effect so yeah thats what i was referring to.

even if the rear of the housing wasn't cut to fit the missing solonoid or a part of the projector itself through they still weight a ton i know that much for sure.

this is a problem i had with mine the first set i had done fell completely off lol my projector was just flopping around inside the headlight

he fixed that issue by using jb weld to lock the little screw inserts from the back side it also left me with full adjustability as well which was nice. but he didn't figure that shit out until a set or 2 had fallen off.

the moisture issues where rampant jb over at black flames did my 460 set up and we could not keep them dry no matter what we had tried. that can be a real pita with any retrofit let alone one that needs a giant hole cut in the rear of the housing lol.

these really are some of the baddest projectors ever but they can be a real bitch nail down correctly.

and 1,200 dollars is a lot of scratch for a set of lights thats what i spent on my set of 460's for christ sakes and they where done by an actual business a professional guy not done by who knows what the fuck in his garage.

i must be on idiot pills but, i just noticed how the leds where done in the pic i thought they where following the outer lens but, this guy has some custom shit around the reflector bowl.

thats pretty slick man and not really east to do. whats the story behind that is it a custom led board this guy did?

 

i love them! i can keep thwm but just wanna see if i could sell them! i think their about 6 months old at the oldest! as far as who did them, its my friend since high school! he is well known on XRU! he isnt a professional buisness but he knows how to do his retros! he wouldnt sell it if it was junk! sorry i just got them like a week ago and love them and see if i could sell them! im not trying to dump them on n e one! im prob goina install them this weekend if no one picks it up! idk wat it takes to mount or watever but the back of headlight is NOT cut, im assuming only the bowls! he back of the housing is like normal set! yes custom leds only 2 r like this! my friend has the other set! idk i never ordered from the rts but i tried looking and u can only buy 460!!! and as far as all ur questions, all u r talking about and seem to know is 460 projectors! yes these are big projectors with no question but im sure its not that heavy compared to 460 cause 460 is a bixenon therefore housing is wayyyy heavier! and mouting points on a 460 is hard to deal with! idk if u know but 460 & 430 are two worlds apart! so i dont appreciate u acting like we dont know wat like we r talking about and making the threads all sour! i mean most guys from hawaii(i cant promise ALL) but most guys dont try rip uoff cuz we r on a island, we got no where to run, and if we rip someone off, guys talk and ur name is tarnished! so i can stand by them! i mean i bought it! i know everyone is like 1200 for a set of headlights but i know my friends work and u get wat u pay for! dont get me wrong he told me about 460 and he said he can buy they are a hassle to do! he picked 430 because they r the widest and as far as cut off! but with that all said i aint trying to fight or argue with n e one! just i shouldnt have bouht these now cuz of fianancials! but i love them, and my friend was goina sell it to a canadian guy if i didnt jump on them so i did! so i wanted to see if i could sell them but if notbi got no problem running this bad boys
