I have a black 1999 tacoma with 185,000 miles on it. i love this thing and i put a 2.5 in lift on it. my friends cousin is selling a 2003 tacoma with 140,000 miles for 7500. i put my truck on craigslist to get his and my truck started idling weird. got everything checked out, and 2 grand later, i have a new exhaust manifold- the crack caused the problem, valve job, redone head, and radiator done. my truck is black and has a ton of scratches but its a great truck, i cant decide whether or not i should sell mine and buy his or just keep mine. the 2003 is a killer deal but every one says he was crazy with that truck. with mine i know it runs good but i want it to look newer. the 2003 might give me problems so give me some advice please!! and im new to TW and i love it!!

Sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don't.

With the amount of work/mods you've done ... I'm not sure I'd trade that for a truck 4 years newer with only 45K less miles.

Your decision, but that's my 2 cents.

    +1 My dads modo

I wouldn't upgrade unless you're sure that it's totally an upgrade. Maybe have the 03 checked out by a mechanic you really trust that's good with the tacomas… Not that that means a whole lot really… but better then nothing if you really want it.

If your truck is mechanically sound ... you might consider a paint job to satisfy your desire for it look newer? Just a thought...

^^ paint it and go on. You know your truck, you know its problems, and you dont know about the other truck just fix what you dont like on yours and drive it til the wheels fall off
