Hello guys, first time poster but I've been on the site for quite some time. I've owned my Tacoma for about half a year now and its time to dress it up a little. It's an 04 double cab. I'm considering a bull bar (I know these aren't particularly liked by most, but I only want one for looks not protection), nerf bars, or some TRD sport wheels off a 2nd gen. If anyone has pictures of these on a truck similar to mine, or suggestions on which to choose, I'd appreciate it. I've used the search feature but cannot find exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks

I like the finished product but the "build yourself a new grill" part isn't really an option for me. I like the satoshi grills, but is there anywhere that sells them for 1st gens? Everytime I look I only find ones for 2nd gens

I really like those grillcraft grills, and this would give me somewhere to add some fog lights, which is the primary reason I want the bull bar. Thanks for the suggestion. I wish I could build my own, I'm just afraid I'd screw something up. The only "work" I ever do on my truck is regular maitenence type stuff

I like the light bars. I don't think it would look good on my truck just because it is all stock but I think they look great on the more off-road looking Tacomas.

I always thought it looked good on my stock truck. This is a light bar that a member on here sells, my truck is totally stock in the pic save for the 4Runner wheels.

    Man, that's great photo Dan!

Regarding appearence mods for a stock truck.
Going up slightly in tire size (265/75/16 vs 265/70/16 stock) is always a nice improvement. If you don't like the stock rims, a nice looking aftermarket is always an improvement there as well.

Removing the stock mudflaps in my opinion is also nice exterior appearence mod. Of course this is subject to being a very opinionated matter for obvious reasons, but to me they make a truck look more like an old persons vehicle than anything.

I personally wouldn't go with nerf bars though, especially on a stock truck. The stock ride height is low enough that you don't need them, they make the truck appear lower to the ground than it actually is (not good when there is no lift) and they also can get in the way if you're ever offroad.

Of course a nice complete full detail is always a nice exterior improvement as well. ;)

Dont be afraid of building something on your own. Its just a truck and can be fixed if you "screw it up". And its only a $30 grille. Spend $10 bucks on some wire mesh and some spray paint and bolts/screws/zipties, and have at it. Nothing you cant fix. And you get to say "I built this, I didnt buy it".

oh yeah, all it takes is some left/right angle tin snips , a sharpie ,a combo square & the balls to just start trimming away... out of the 1st gens I think the '99 & '00 tacomas had the ugliest POS bumper going, but thats just me

Debadge and de-decal is always a nice first step IMO

Makes the truck nice and clean looking.
