Too small of wheels?

I'm going to be getting just a small lift maybe 2" or 3" but I've still got the 17" rims and the factory tires it came with which are still in great condition. I'm going to get some nice aluminum rims so I don't have the boring factory ones anymore. My question is, will my wheels look little if I lift it to 3"? I don't want to look like the people who lift their vehicles but leave their normal sized tires on thir vehicles and it looks really dumb because the wheels look really small on a lifted truck. So should I get both new rims and tires? Or will just getting new rims be ok?

In my opinion, I think the 17" rims work...I would try to get some AT tires. Go with a 265/70r17 combo. Do some searching on here and google, will find a lot of ideas....In short, would just upgrade both if you can.

Hopefully getting my truck lifted 2.5" in a few months and I plan on running 265/75/16. Doesn't look bad at all. Search around for some pictures and you'll see.

 

My truck with a 3" lift front & rear. Stock 245/75/16 Dungflops on stock steelies.
I'll use these for commuting (70 mile round trip) for the better mpgs.


I already have some TRD alloys that I'm going to put 265/75/16s on for off roading.
