Looking to buy my first deer hunting rifle in 30.06 and the choices at sports authority were the Mossberg 100ATR and Savage 111FCXP. I dont have a ton of cash To spend, both come scoped for 329$. (Eventually I'll upgrade the scope down the road) Any feedback on these rifles at all? Heard about firing pin issues on the mossberg and also I don't believe this model of the savage comes with accutrigger. Thanks is advance

I started out with a mossberg atr also but in 270. it was a good gun for the money (killed alot of deer with it) only down fall was it was a breach load and not a clip or have a drop plate. I moved on to a tikka t3 in .308

They are both good guns. I personally feel that mossberg has better quality. I have a mossberg 30-06 and it has worked amazingly with the scope that came on it and it was gun of the year when I got mine.

    I'd go with the Savage.
Very good out of the box accuracy, good trigger.
Savage has been building high power rifles much longer than Mossberg.

Post this question on a gun forum and the Savage would win by a comfortable margin.

I have a Savage/Stevens Model 200 in a .270 with a Redfield Revolution 3-9x scope. This is the same gun as the Savage 110. On a bench rest, I can hit nickle size bulls eyes at 100 yards on 9x. This Savage doesn't have the accutrigger either but the trigger pull is fine.
