I have a 2008 Taco PreRunner SR5 and does not appear to have LSP. Is the standard differential the same on all the models and LSP enabled thru ABS? Or is it actual gearing (posi-traction)? I know the locking differential option uses an actuator as well as electronic controls.

Welcome to TW! The MEchanical LS Diff was offered up to 2009. After that, you get an "Auto" LS Diff which uses brake action to mimic an LS Diff.

Had the truck for a few months and it's great. Except I was told it had LSD when I bought it. I'll have to crawl under and see what's on the case.

Or just jack the rear wheels up, put it in neutral and take the parking break off. Spin one side. If the other side spins the same direction you have mechanical LSD.

Not an accurate way to tell. Ive had open diffs spin both sides the same direction.

how is this easier than looking for the red/white sticker? ok, you may need to slide under with a rag to wipe off mud.
