I am ordering hanooks in spring because of price, the only good wheels i can find are in 17" so that upgrade plus the price hanooks win.

I have them in 245/75/16 (I think) and they don't look skinny at all. In fact, barely thinner than the stock 17" sport tires.

And IIRC, they have the snowflake too ....

sort of older thread, but getting the dyna pros put on today at 3:00 p.m. Getting excited about it now. Was going to go with the Goodyear Wrangler Authority's from WalMart, because from what I heard it is a pretty good tire and look really aggressive, but the WalMart people were d-bags so I walked out. They wouldn't go from my 265 70R16 to 265 75R16 because of their store policy. They looked like a bunch of dumbasses anyway, I wouldn't want touching my truck now that I've had more time to think about it.

I'm liking my Hankooks so far. Today is my first day with them in any significant snow and they are so much better than the Dunflops. The truck is no longer squirrely in 2WD... much more predictable. They also did pretty well in thick mud last weekend.

If money isn't an option obviously Duratracs are the superior tire as far as performance, quality, looks, snow rated etc. Hell I've said this before but I see Duratracs on the Humvees and other military vehicles coming from Iraq here at Ft. Hood.

Hankooks are obviously are a more conservative tire and not exactly designed for extreme off-roading, but for trails and highways they are decent.

    Yah, ain't it great!

What was your out-the-door installed price?

I found a new dealer here that quoted me $580 out-the-door for 4. I paid $640, last Feb. at a different dealer.

you answered your own question, you rarely go off road....RF10's are great, quiet, aggressive looking All Terrian tires with a good gas milage return as well.. I have on two trucks, no complaints, but also have a set of 10 plys for off roading...all great feedback.

Ok, instead of making another tire thread, I will thread jack this one.

I am about to pull the trigger on a set of ProComp 7089 and either 265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grappler or Duratracs. Its through 4wheelparts.com and they dont offer Hankooks, or I would buy those.

Right now, with discounts I can get the duratracs for $172 and the TG's are $175.

I rarely offroad, except to hunt/fish, but do drive in the snow quite a bit in the winter to ski.

Since I am 99% highway, I am concerned about the MPG hit. What kind of MPG hit am I looking at with Duratracs compared to the Nitto TG? Am I overthinking this way too much and should I just pull the trigger on Duratracs

^Well I have no comment on the Nittos, but when I went from stock 16" tires to Duratracs, I lost about 2 MPG. Now that doesn't seam like much, but I also drive 99% all highway. My truck is basically a long haul commuter and I put 222+ round trip miles nearly every day on the truck so it adds up. i just couldn't stand losing the MPG especially with the increase in gas prices. So I sold my Duratracs and went with Michelin LTX AT2 which has a more conservative tread pattern, but still an all terrain tire and still looks great.

So far they have been AMAZING. The dry and wet traction is excellent and is better than the Duratracs, the ride is quieter and smoother on the highway, and they have a longer tread warranty. They also have much less rolling resistance than the Duratracs because of their weight compared to the Duratracs, and because of the tread design. The Michelins also include 3 years of free towing and road assistance also, and a 30 day no hassle exchange if you're not satisfied. If I was just around town and my commute was less than 20-40 miles round trip I might have stayed with Duratracs. If price is a problem with the Michelins because they are definitely more expensive, the Hankooks seam like another option but I have no experience with Hankooks so I can't give any advice there.

Duratrac is amazing on snow and ice, I haul 2 snowmobile on a truck up very steep snowy and icy hills every weekend
but I have got to say the small grove on the Duratrac (the ones for ice and gravel) wear very very fast since they are not deep.
